The Last Task before Clicking or Tapping 'Post my thread!'

Look upward on your device's display and read the post title and the body of your post. Who knows what you might find there, if you've been tapping away for a few minutes? All sorts of things can creep into a post while you aren't looking. AutoCorrect could be sabotaging it. Your kitty may have pressed a key or two. Anything could have happened while you were looking down at your hardware or on-screen keyboard.

It only takes a minute to proofread a DU post, but that simple step can save you from untold embarrassing possibilities.

6. reminds me of a story

An engineer that reported to me once wrote a letter where he used another engineer's name several times. Of course auto correct did him in. The name was "Ramon Bargess" and 7 times he used it got changed to "Radon Barges"

It took years for him to live that down, but was hilarious for all of us!

13. Great advice...plus...

at the lower left there is a button marked "Check Spelling." That's often worth a shot, too, although I can generally spell better than any computer I have met. Sometimes, though, I will try to use a word I'm not sure of. Spell check helps, just realize it's not perfect.
