Official Statement from Her Royal Highness

I'll just quote the text:

It has come to our attention that the President of the United States wishes to visit Buckingham Palace and to be transported to an audience with us in the Royal Carriage.

We regret that we will not be able to accommodate President Trump in that way. The Royal Carriage will be in the Royal Coach House for routine maintenance, new upholstery, selective re-gilding, and a thorough washing-up at the time of his visit. This rehabilitation has been planned in advance, and the schedule cannot be altered at this time.

We recognize that it is unfortunate that President Trump will have to select other transportation for his visit, but he will have the use of one of the Royal Court's other vehicles for his procession. A list will be furnished to the White House of available vehicles in advance of his arrival for this audience with us. We look forward to discussing a number of issues with the President of the United states at that time, if he remains in office until the scheduled date.

We especially recommend one of our favorite vehicles, once driven by my son. It was his favorite, and might be appealing to President Trump. A photograph is inserted below:

Her Majesty graciously offers the use of no fewer than 6 golf carts for the use of the President and his entourage during his visit, the cost of which shall be born by the Crown.

She has not been Her Royal Highness for several decades. She is the one, the only H.M.

(Sorry. I was watching The Crown, Season 1 last night, and this very issue came up. )

She is Her Majesty, not Her Royal Highness. (I know, nitpicky...)

Don't you just love The Crown? I've seen the entire first season, and just loved it.

dislikes Trump very much, but she will put out all the best regalia for him, she is not one to shy away from things she doesn't like.

Stiff upper lip and all that.

which was a precedent, I think. If I'm remembering correctly, a whole lot of people had a cow when Mrs Obama touched her on the shoulder or something. But the Queen was actually quite warm in return.

It was quite striking. You're not supposed to touch the royals.

I love the beauty of the Monarchy! The regalia, the material beauty and ritual. It's really wonderful that England maintains the tradition. Such a treasure to appreciate. 💖

Trump won't be allowed anywhere near this treasure of the British Empire.

OTOH Trump will order his next golf cart to be modeled just like this.
It just needs a touch more gold though. It has a few spots that aren't solid gold.
