Reminder: It Took Over 2 Years for the Watergate Scandal to Unfold

this one is much more complex with different countries, languages, hidden corporate accounts and disinformation . Not every step will be forward but its a jig-saw puzzle slowly being revealed. Nobody can solve the puzzle by themselves but every step can help others with their own leads. I think its disingenuous for critics to dismiss Mensch's posts at this point. She might have access to her own "Deep Throat" who is deeply concerned about an aspect of the scandal they are familiar with. Her source might not be knowledgeable about the entire alleged conspiracy. She certainly has advanced the investigation-so we should critically consider her reports

I don't see it being anything like Watergate. Journalism is coming for trump and social media will be the jury. If the trump dirt is real its gonna be like an explosion once it's out and I have a feeling if it's real it's coming soon. It will be one big aha moment and will be over in a flash leaving everyone's heads spinning. Republicans aren't only gonna step out of the way but probably help give him a boot in the ass on the way out and then claim see we told you he was a democrat.

their accusers and most of this info would be classified. So the FBI is having to develop its own evidence, with the foreign intelligence used to direct its investigation, but not substituting for it.

We all know how truly stupid these people are. There is evidence out there and the media is gonna find it. like i said social media will be his jury. I honestly don't think trump thought he was gonna win and therefore we would ever be talking about his shinnanagans. On election night he was probably like uh oh instead of yay... pretty confident those idiots had some sloppy deals happening. There is a reason trump immediately tried to discredit all non conservative media

March 17, 1973: Watergate burglar James McCord writes a letter to Judge John Sirica, claiming that some of his testimony was perjured under pressure and that the burglary was not a CIA operation, but had involved other government officials, thereby leading the investigation to the White House.

Around the same time WH Counsel, John Dean started cooperating.

On April 30th, Dean was fired. On the same day, Haldeman, Ehrlichman, and Kleindienst resigned.

ETA: Also on Dec 8, 1972 one of the burglar's wife died in a plane crash and it set off a weird chain of events that involved blackmail of the WH.

______________________________________________________________

ETA: Sure we had a much better Congress and didn't have right wing media back then. But McCord's confession was within the court system, not Congress. The media was different back then, but I feel they were quite respectful and fairly protective of the president. Nowadays we've got a bunch of internet sleuths and the public is much better informed than we were back then.

we had to go through that 1972 election knowing something was up -- but not being able to do anything about it.

The current situation is far more complicated, and the GOP is in control of Congress. It will take much longer -- but I have some hope because intelligence agencies in other countries are working on this. We're not solely dependent on the FBI and the CIA.

Especially because the GOP will want to keep him in for 2 years to maximize the amount of time his successor will potentially have. If he's out after a year, the successor will get his 3 remaining years plus one full term, 7 years. If he hangs on for two, he'll get those and 2 full terms, 10 years.

And yes, they are playing this game.

However, Asshole presents a threat much worse than Nixon, so some things are moving more quickly, like picking off his Russian loyalist aides, appointees, and good buddies one by one, isolating him from Putin and leaving him with only GOP loyalists.

My best guess says that once isolated, he'll quit. If it takes impeachment and removal, that will drag out for two full years and they'll try to keep Pence, something in doubt now that he's been tainted with the same scandal.

We had rumor mills back in the early 70s, too, usually in the form of small tabloid papers run by fellow freaks in the bigger cities and circulated at college campuses. We also had planted stories from the administration from time to time. The only difference now is one of scale.

Be careful what you read and believe and where you read it. And pop some popcorn, this one is gong to take awhile and since it's not our mess, it's theirs, we might as well enjoy the show.

And those are all really big deals. They also had a President whose IQ easily doubled that of our current Commander in Thief.
