I worked in the auto industry for 30 years

and saw many jobs going to Canada for the simple reason that we could not compete with the plants in Canada because they had universal health insurance, while the big 3 were paying $15K/year for American workers health insurance. So go for it mr. president.

We went through three plant closings in our time...and Lordstown cut the third shift and slowed the line recently.

I have seen both things hurt the autos...but there is no doubt that manufacturing cars overseas has hurt this country.

in this country working for overseas auto makers. Honda, Toyota, BMW, Volkswagen, Nissan, Subaru and Hyundai, just to name a few. I'd still say most of the auto jobs in this country are lost due to automation.

slowed production...as for Hyundai they pay 10 or 12 per hour and literally crushed a girl to death not long ago. There saftey is the worst. I think we are entering a recession seen this before. Autos are the first to feel it...Autos are laying off...I should know, ,my son worked for Lordstown and was laid off in February. And I might add the that Mexico is now making the hatchback Cruze and GM has sold Mexican made Cruzes even in Ohio. There have been many job losses due to shipping jobs to Mexico...Mexico workers make pennies on the dollar.

"Jun 10, 2016 - General Motors to bring Mexico-made Chevy Cruzes to U.S.. There is too much demand for the Lordstown plant to keep up, employees of GM ... General Motors will bring Chevrolet Cruzes built in Mexico and sell them in the United States. ... to produce the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze, which is off to a strong start."

Too much demand? They cut the third shift. So say what you want...the problem at the moment is jobs going outside the US.
