How many years will it take to undo the damage that Trump and his ilk have done and will continue to do to this country?

(9,670 posts)It will take an equal number of months/years to undo...assuming Democrats have the House, the Senate and the White House.
If Trump is replaced by another Republican - which seems likely - the damage will continue to mount.

(1,129 posts)Sure... agencies can be rebuilt
Policies can be reinstated or eliminated
People can be hired or replaced
Websites can be revised
And programs can be funded
But the damage done to families and neighborhoods will last a lifetime....
The students who are no longer provided a free and appropriate education... will not have a second chance to benefit from the educational system...
The children whose beliefs and values are shaped by the prevailing overt expressions of hate by those who no longer want to hide their feelings-- will always remember when such behavior was "ok"...
The people whose lives are cut short due to lack of access to healthcare or meals on wheels, or fall victim to hate crimes and /or police brutality and their loved ones will never be able "undo" their loss...
And then there is the loss of trust...
Amongst neighbors
Between communities & gov
Between nations...
that will never truly be reinstated during most of our lifetimes... if ever
