I voted for Bernie Sanders in the primary and Hillary Clinton in the general. Both were informed decisions made within the context of American political reality. I do not love Sanders and I do not loathe Clinton.
I have plenty of critiques of the Democratic party. I care about these critiques because I care about the party, not because I'm looking to do something nefarious. I've never participated in any institution, political or otherwise, that did not need improvements or reformation. The important thing is that I'm capable of supporting reform while still maintaining my support for the institution.
Lastly, do not forget that, at the end of the day, I voted Democrat both times.
Thank you. That is all.

(3,975 posts)let us not forget our candidate lost to a buffoon. We did something wrong losing 1200 seats since 2010. That is on the DEM party. That is on us. It does no good to blame each other, we must try to unite and win back everything. These bash Bernie, Sarandon, etc.....threads do nothing but churn all the anger up again.

(108,976 posts)much too long after the primary was decided -- which mathematically was certain by May -- to join together as a party to support the eventual nominee. Though all the Republicans closed ranks around DT in April, our nominee had to face attacks from both the right and the left all the way to the convention in July. Months of precious campaigning time was lost.
The other major things we did "wrong" was that we weren't able to stop the gerrymandering that led to the majority of those lost seats. And when we had Democrat politicians in precarious positions in red states, instead of supporting them, we called them DINO's and screamed that they should be replaced. The fact that they would be replaced by real Republicans somehow didn't matter to us, as long as we could knock out the impure Democrat. And that's how we lost our Senate majority -- by not supporting strongly the "DINO's" we had in some red states.

(5,272 posts)There are certainly things our party didn't hint at or reveal until late in the primary season, as in the convention, which certainly would have made me more confident in it's direction sooner. I probably would have voted for Clinton either way, at the end of the day, but those eventual ovations to the left made it a hell of a lot easier.

We cannot afford to be complacent with our party platform.

(28,876 posts)Why they refuse to move on and address the threat of President Trump and successfully refocusing the Democratic Party message is beyond me.
But it sure as hell isn't in keeping with the board's TOS, and the admins need to do something about it.
It's complete bullshit to have half a dozen or so posters driving all the GOP-focused threads to the bottom with endless attacks on a guy who is out working with the head of the DNC as we speak.
