mike quigley, d-5 il (chi), intel committee, money laundering a central part of investigation.

on cnn right now after returning from a trip to cyprus and ukraine.
rough quote- i cant reveal what i was told in private, but i will say that cyprus is where the russians launder their money, and money laundering is integral to our investigation.
people launder money to evade taxes and they launder money to evade sanctions.

i have been saying for a while that the root of the criminality here is money laundering.
that sanctions is a big part of the investigation, imho, points at the rosneft deal, and a deal to lift sanctions.
and aunt maxine keeps saying- it is all about the oil.

Of course it's money laundering, and throw in a healthy dose of tax evasion. The Velveteen Ocelot Apr 2017 #3

Manafort's financial dealings with Cypress and Ukraine involve suspicious loans so I have been wondering if Quigley's trip was specifically to gather info on how these fake loans that are written off and never repaid are one of the methods Manafort and others got rewarded by Russian entities.

The Russians need a lot of money laundered because of sanctions, and what better way to do it but real estate investments? That's where SCROTUS comes in.

weeks after I figured that part out, Malcolm Nance said the same thing. It would give the prosecutor(s) more latitude and would serve to bring down the network rather than simply impeaching the cheato. A RICO case could get them all.
