The origin of the name Taliban meant 'three students'. That is what it began with. After the invasion of Iraq the group suddenly grew by leaps and bounds in numbers.

Iran. The group with the convoy of pick-up trucks (remember them?) They've evolved pretty much out of his control except probably some groups. Groups putins gov. even can call on & use today for some attacks, IMO like the 3 man bomb attack on Turkeys airport.

IMO,putin has a big problem with the part of Russia full of cloistered really strictly religious Muslims. He can't anger them and IS type extremists own that part of Russia today.

The part of Russia that used to be called, The Pale Of Settlementafter centuries of bloody changes, ethnic purges, religious hate- is still Wild People Lands even today.

Mr. Trump right on @potus, I'm ashamed of you "you're an asshole and a baby killer".

On the bright side, humans are the most musically creative species and we do have a lot of music about our mad world

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places
Worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere
Going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression
No expression
Hide my head, I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow
No tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles, it's a very, very...
Mad world...
Mad world...
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday
Happy birthday
When they feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen
Sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me
No one knew me
Hello teacher, tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me
Look right through me
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles, it's a very, very...
Mad world...

Enlarge your world...

They're trying hard to whomp up Armageddon, which their god will of course make sure they win.

Hard-core right-wingers in any nation in the world are pretty much their soul mates. All convinced they must do inevitably battle with "the other." Plus, they can be counted on to destabilize and even destroy western-style democracies if they get power long enough. Which in an age of WMD has the potential to happen amazingly quickly.

So of course electing their emotional cousins furthers ISIS's goals.

In the same vein the worst thing to ever happen to Western Conservatism was the fall of the Soviet Union style Communism and loss of Cold War profits. This time threats by Radical Islam threats promises to return decades of military justification. Opportunity for Right Wing authoritarians was never better.

across the planet.

In the same way folks didn't believe an election in the US could be stolen, we accept all the spin re these attacks.

Now read about this one - remember it was ISIS until it wasn't

No one will convince me that the attack in Orlando was ISIS or the on ein San Bernardino or that huge one in Paris.

As links between RWs are exposed, I'll wait for the truth. They were all too convenient for RWs. Sorry folks.

who will drive moderate Muslims towards ISIS. This is conventional wisdom, eg:

Islamic State will want a landslide victory for Marine Le Pen

ISIS write about it themselves:

There is a recruitment framework. The Grey Zone, a 10-page editorial in Isis’s online magazine Dabiq in early 2015, describes the twilight area occupied by most Muslims between good and evil, the caliphate and the infidel, which the “blessed operations of September 11” brought into relief. Quoting Bin Laden it said: “The world today is divided. Bush spoke the truth when he said, ‘Either you are with us or you are with the terrorists’, with the actual ‘terrorist’ being the western crusaders.” Now, it said, “the time had come for another event to … bring division to the world and destroy the grey zone”. The attacks in Paris were the latest instalment of this strategy, targeting Europe, as did the recent attacks in Turkey. There will be more, much more, to come.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/nov/15/terrorists-isis

Yes, ISIS want a clear enemy they can send attackers against, so they want bigoted right wingers in charge of western governments. So there's no reason to doubt ISIS involvement in the Paris etc. attacks; they benefit ISIS (who want wars) and western RWers.

"the last one there"? Are you cryptically referring to the soccer team bus bombing or the crowd rammed by the car/truck? Perhaps a little less terseness would help the discussion.

They *WANT* as much resentment from the western world against Muslims as they can generate, since they can't allow peaceful Muslims to have any 'safe haven' in a liberal, educated, multicultural society. This makes the "Either you're with US or you're with THEM" -issue a lot more convoluted...

FWIW, Assad has pulled off the same hustle against his citizens to an even more extreme extent...
