Ultra-Orthodox Jewish passenger wanted aircraft TV SCREENS turned off...

Daily Mail:

Ultra-Orthodox Jewish passenger delays flight for more than an hour because he wanted the TV screens switched off

A flight from Kiev to Israel was delayed for more than an hour on Thursday night after an ultra-Orthodox Jewish man insisted the overhead television screens were retracted or turned off.

In keeping with traditional religious teachings and practices, the passenger argued that he did not want his children to watch any TV or films during the flight with budget Israeli airline UP.

Despite his verbal protest, flight attendants were unable to adhere to the man's request and they issued eye masks instead.

You are free to leave the plane at this time. If you don't wish to do that, please fasten your seat belt securely and prepare for takeoff.

He was in severe distress because a woman sat next to him.

They were able to arrange for a cootie free section for him.

I just felt sorry for him.

It seems like an enterprising Ultra-Orthodox should go into the airline business. It's clear that they can't travel with the heathens and their policies (like men sitting next to women, TV screens, etc). It seems like there's a market for their own airline.

Six bucks apiece at Wally's, https://www.walmart.com/ip/Comfort-Sleep-Mask/32501698 and he and his spawn can go through life without ever seeing anything that might offend them.

What an asshole! Now that's the kind of passenger that needs to be bounced off a plane!

If people want to practice their religion, that's fine. I even don't have any problem with the normal human give and take to accommodate various preferences within reason. If people want to pray, wear various garments, or even narrow a business lunch meeting menu to deal with dietary restrictions, whatever. I've never had a veggie, kosher or halal meal I didn't like. It's usually a minor step out of one's way to get along with folks who have religious or even non-religious preferences about things.

But, good golly, when you have to insist that it's my way or the highway to a bunch of people on an airplane, then charter a flight or find some other way to deal with it.

Kudos to whomever thought of the eye masks, though.

No reason I should have to deal with whatever ridiculous rules you want to live by. Sick of all the religious freaks who can't keep their religion to themselves.
