Any kentucky derby fans here?

I am a big horse racing fan. I love the derby. I have been handicapping horses for over 30 years. I have become a pretty good player. I have a knack for finding long shots. My biggest weakness is betting the correct way. I am not a big bettor. I believe in betting a small amount to win alot.

Years ago my brother asked me, how do you find so many long shots. I told him, don't think like Spock, think like Captain Kirk. If you think like Spock you will win more often but you will playing the obvious. Low payoffs.

When it comes to the derby i am a man on a mission. I have never been able to hit the triple in the derby. It has become a major goal for me. Here is the reason why.

Some of the best handicapping i have ever done in my life has been on betting the triple in the kentucky derby. I've had gut wrenching, god must hate me loses in the derby. I have never hit the triple.

One year i found a longshot i loved. It went off 50 to 1. Giacomo. I had him with the Favorite and 3 other horses in the triple. The longshot won, the favorite came in 3rd. One of my other horses came in 4th. A 70 to 1 shot came in second, burned me. I did not put any money to win on giacomo.

Another year i keyed a horse for 1st, 2nd and 3rd with 5 horses in the triple. I loved 2 horses in the race. I had to decide which one to key. It was a toss up. You know what happened. The horse i keyed got creamed at the start, race over. The horse i did not key came in third. I would have won a large triple.

It's to early to predict who i like in this years derby. I can say this. There will not be a big favorite this year. The bettors will be confused this year because the horses have been inconsistent. The angle i am looking at right now is, there may be a fast pace this year. The race could fall apart and closers may do well. The horses this year are also slow compared to other years. Things can get crazy when that happens.

Do not be afraid to play long shots this year. Think like CPT. Kirk.

Last year husband picked the winner but hadn't placed a bet. We never do. But it was fun.

Hooters 'calendar girl' and Playboy 'Miss Social' were Frank Artiles' paid consultants

But the long list of expenditures filed with the Florida Division of Elections by Artiles' political committee, Veterans for Conservative Principles, also raised some questions. Why did the committee hire a former Hooters "calendar girl" and a Playboy model with no political experience as "consultants?" Were the payments related to a trip to the Kentucky Derby or a fishing tournament in Key West? What was the more than $51,000 in reimbursements to Artiles for?

According to the spending reports at the Florida Division of Elections, Artiles' committee paid $17,672 to Churchill Downs on March 17 to reserve a box for a "fundraiser" at the Kentucky Derby. It also made a payment of $4,236 to Louisville's Galt House Hotel.

Two days after the May 7 Kentucky Derby, Thomas and Singletary each received checks for $600 for "consulting." Both declined to comment. It's not know whether either attended the Derby.

The horses that race in the derby and at the top racetracks around the country are treated like we treat our pets. They are well taken care of. There are problems at cheaper tracks with cheaper horses.

The biggest problem with horse racing is horses do not recover when they break a leg like we do. A broken leg can kill them. It's sad. Thats the way god made them. Some of my favorite horses had to be put down because they broke their leg doing what they love to do. running.
