New York AG Opens Investigation Into Trumps Ties To Organized Crime

Last edited Sun Apr 23, 2017, 10:23 PM - Edit history (1)

Trump’s organized crime ties bring blackmail to the White House
http://www.rawstory.com/2017/04/trumps-organized-crime-ties-bring-blackmail-to-the-white-house/
Jefferson Morley, 23 Apr 2017

The words were positively polite, at least for a man convicted of assault and racketeering. It was the implied target of his blackmail threat that was unusual: the president of the United States.

The threat came from Felix Sater, a Russian-American businessman who partnered with Donald Trump in launching the Trump Soho, a hotel-condominium project in New York City. The building was funded by Sater’s boss, Tevfik Arif, a mogul from Kazakhstan. In 2007, Trump’s children, Donald Jr., Eric and Ivanka attended the unveiling ceremony for the 46-story luxury tower in Manhattan.

Trump, Arif and Sater were photographed standing next to one another at that event. Since then, the three men have parted ways in a haze of recriminations, lawsuits and amnesia.

The Threat

Sater’s attorney came right to the point in a February 2 letter to Arif’s attorney about $3.5 million in disputed legal fees, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.

“Clearly, if this matter between Mr. Sater and Mr. Arif escalates to public litigation, the media spotlight will be negatively cast on Mr. Arif and his past relationship with President Trump and the Republic of Kazakhstan,” the attorney wrote.

In the correspondence reviewed by the Journal, Sater warned he might file another lawsuit ............

I think it would be delicious if Trump ends up in jail because the state of New York prosecutes him.

In my personal opinion,
@20committee, @truefactsstated, @counterchekist, and half of @louisemensch's posts are mostly reliable reads.

Dworkin (funder) and Abramson don't seem to have good sources and they largely collate others' writing.

I'd love to believe this post too but I'm skeptical. I feel better about Claude Taylor.

Two articles were linked. The RawStory article is new, from Alternet, and reposted on Salon.
http://www.salon.com/2017/04/23/trumps-organized-crime-ties-bring-blackmail-to-the-white-house/

The Abramson article is old.

New facts in Alternet article are a bit sparse. They link to a WaPo story from last May and. WSJ story from Thu. No mention of NY AG investigation - that appears to be Abramson.

Abramson does not appear to have sources that are breaking stories.

5. NY AG / RICO will be best opportunity to convict ....
Sun Apr 23, 2017, 08:31 PM
Apr 2017

All the money runs thru NY at some point....

NY State RICO conviction can only be pardoned by NY Governor.....

& every shred of evidence accumulated by Feds can be utilized
as well as all of the existing evidence from any prior NY investigations/indictments/etc
which can be established as part of an ongoing pattern of activity related to the people/actions under investigation now.
You know.....
Money laundering using high end real estate transactions....

or using shell companies to hide ones engagement in business activities with sanctioned entities...

Or bribing government officials

Or stealing / possession of stolen goods/ sale /purchase of stolen goods
(think of "emails" as goods and hacking as simultaneously breaking & entering& stealing...and public distribution as selling....,)

In this situation, A Lil' RICO case is more powerful than a federal RICO one ....

And he has to know what mobsters are involved and get them to flip. And they have to have actual evidence. Trumps not going to be picking up the phone and making incriminating statements anytime soon.

Sometimes, our justice system does work.

(Coming from a civil litigation paralegal, btw, who has seen a L O T of nonsense by all sides, over the years.)

I said from the moment Preet was fired, that it was due to his reputation for going after these types of cases, including the current & upcoming cases. Trump corruption, Fox/Ailes, Giuliani, etc...

Go get 'em NY!!!
