Obama “Saddened” By Andy Griffith’s Passing

On Tuesday, President Obama said he was “saddened” by Griffith’s death.

“A performer of extraordinary talent, Andy was beloved by generations of fans and revered by entertainers who followed in his footsteps,” Obama said in a statement. “He brought us characters from Sheriff Andy Taylor to Ben Matlock, and in the process, warmed the hearts of Americans everywhere. Our thoughts and prayers are with Andy’s family.”

His very first movie (A Face in the Crowd, directed by the late, great Elia Kazan) was amazing. All about this hick who managed to become a radio superstar but he's an arrogant SOB underneath and finally gets the comeuppance he so richly deserves. His acting was phenomenal.

They're all gone now, except Ron Howard, of course.

Rest in Peace, dear Andy

I was distraught before. Now I know he will prosecute Wall Street bankers and end the corporate takeover.

I loved No Time For Sergeants - I think that's the only movie I ever saw him in.

My grandma and I would listen to "What it was, was football" over and over when I was little. Laughed our behinds off every time. (I will not say "ass" in a sentence with my grandma.) (Oh! Dammit!)

Sentenced a truant to jail, where she was raped.

The judge kept using self-serving fundy homilies to "justify" his decision.
