From uproxx:
Specifically, the Daily Beast has found that New Hampshire state representative Robert Fisher founded the subreddit Redpill under a few aliases. Fisher is a mostly unremarkable politician in the state, but has ties to more colorful and controversial state politicians like Joshua Youssef, who notoriously has a very public grudge against his ex-wifes divorce attorney.
The forum he founded, however, is notorious for a cult-like atmosphere and is one of the more well-known misogynistic corners of the internet. It launched the career of Milo Yiannopoulous, who was a regular contributor to the forum and whose involvement in it became part of the backlash that ultimately cost Yiannopoulous his job at Breitbart. Just how involved Fisher is in the behavior of the forum in recent years is unclear, as Redditors can have multiple screen names and even assume different personalities to discuss their views without those views being traced back to their real names. However, after being contacted by the Daily Beast for the story, Fisher has attempted to wipe any connection he was with the forum.

And The Daily Beast:
The homegrown son of a preacher, 31-year-old Robert Fisher is a Republican who represents New Hampshires Belknap County District 9. In addition to his legislative duties, Fisher owns a local computer-repair franchise, and in his spare time, seems to have created the webs most popular online destination for pickup artistry and mens rights activists, The Red Pill, according an investigation by the Daily Beast.
An investigation into Fishers online aliases found a trail of posts linking the lawmaker to the username Pk_atheist, the creator of The Red Pillan online Reddit community of nearly 200,000 subscribers that promotes itself as a discussion of sexual strategy in a culture increasingly lacking a positive identity for men.
And yet Fishers past comments on a host of Reddit forums are arguably far more disturbing than what his colleagues have said in public. He blasted women for their sub-par intelligence. He said that womens personalities are lackluster and boring, serving little purpose in day to day life. And Fisher once commented, It is literally the [female] body that makes enduring these things worth it.
In a state with one representative to every 3,200 people, many of Fishers female constituents are likely to know him personallywhether or not they know what hed once posted about women online. And those comments were just the start.

Here's where we have to take the fight. This is a GOP lawmaker who is currently in power and he runs a hub for anti-feminists, misogynists, rape apologists, and white nationalists.

(27,794 posts)It's also discouraging. How do we make progress if there are elected officials who feel this way? Clearly he masked it to some extent to get elected, but how uninformed are his constituents? Are they going to care, and drum him out of office?
