Well, I watched the first half anyway, and I thought it was a huge dud. The constant stream of canned laugher was the first warning, and the sophomoric, slapstick comedy made the comedian seem as desperate and strained as the amateurish joke writing.
There was Trump stumbling off a curb (he's afraid of stairs, you know), close ups of Trump eating like a pig with a mouthful of mayo, bad jokes about retarded people, lame comments about Ivanka, a scene with Trump trying to open a door that went on, and on, and on. This show was a hot mess a nothing was funny. I'm disappointed that it made it to prime time on Comedy Central and don't think I'll give a second chance.
Who else watched The President Show? What did you think of it?

(3,827 posts)After seeing the guy on Colbert I decided against watching the show- He did do a pretty good impression, and the crowd on The Late Show really liked him. In the interview with Stephen he did mention that he was part of The Upright Citizen's Brigade, so it's possible he has a contract with Comedy Central- I dunno. I might check it out online later today.
Back in the day I did tune in to That's My Bush- At the time I thought it was a well written show with a good supporting cast.

(204,661 posts)Of course, it's probably because the real Trump is so offensive all on his own. It's traditional to have presidential impersonators, but I didn't think Bush* needed one, his real life gaffes were legendary. And I think it's even more true with Trump, the real thing is so blatantly offensive that an impersonation is just a pale imitation.

(15,805 posts)Baldwin's exaggerated play on Trump's mannerisms, facial expressions and language are spot on and enhance his impersonation of 45. Not so with the star of The President (and I didn't even get the man's name) whose lackluster performance could only be associated with Trump by the wig he was wearing and the Oval Office stage set.
