(82,849 posts)They get people to turn out (we can ridicule the size of the crowd, but they point is, they're there), it generates local excitement ("the President's coming here!" , and the local media get the Republican angle on issues without any filter.
Yes, hosting a rally in Philadelphia or Pittsburgh is fun, and Democrats turn out big crowds there. We should also be holding rallies in Harrisburg or Scranton and showing folks fighting the good fight in those areas that Democrats care about them, too. That's also a good opportunity to remind folks full up with Fox News bullshit that many of the things they like about America (e.g., health care, social security, public schools) are major planks of the Democratic platform.
