Silence from House republicans this morning must mean they're still short votes on Obamacare repeal

Matt Fuller? @MEPFuller 20m20 minutes ago
The news coming out of the House GOP conference meeting this morning is that there is no news.

No health care vote scheduled, still short.

Apparently, enough Republicans in Congress know that a Yes vote would mean losing in 2018. I hope they lose anyhow, but that fear is probably helping to keep ACA alive.

...to the straightforward defense of Obamacare that tens of millions of their constituents would immediately lose coverage under the republican bill, with many more losing life-saving benefits covered or mandated right now.

That clear message that millions will lose coverage actually makes the details sort of moot for these republicans defending seats. They can see repeal is a gun pointed at their constituents' heads, and are very much aware that voters are now completely onto their game, poised to hold them accountable in a midterm election that's really already begun.

Perhaps the Senate will reject it, but there's still a fair chance that the House might pass something, without actually reading it, of course.

...are likely the very same votes republicans will be sweating in 2018.

If you're vulnerable, there's no way you'll stand by and let them get enough votes to pass the thing. I predict 2 republicans walking away from their party's bill for every one stepping up in favor.
