Rachel Maddow is no longer available at 10 pm here as of tonight. 3 and 6 but no late viewing.

Last edited Wed May 3, 2017, 09:44 AM - Edit history (1)

11th Hour went into her late time slot. It is shown three times a day. From Chris Hayes, shown twice a day, directly in to 11th Hour, no Rachel.

There were three times to hear her yesterday but according to Zap2it, from today on, she will only be seen twice a day.

I'll listen to the podcast instead as I don't get home early enough to hear her now, but I will also write a letter of complaint. Damn it.

And the day before Comey testifies, days before Sally Yates testifies? Fishy.

I usually have Rachel on at this time, too. And I figured they were really promoting her by repeating her show more often. It was on 4 times on Friday, since they've been showing an additional repeat at 6am Saturday morning.

soothe the fears of Democrats by being a moderating and liberal force in the WH. It was absurd. Just absurd. It was a normalizing nepotism cheer squad.

Welcome to the new direction of MSNBC. Ugh.

I almost puked halfway through Brian's puff piece on Jared and Ivanka.

It should be clear to a blind man they are there to keep Trump somewhat on track. My theory is that the family realizes what a fool he is and they surround him in an attempt to keep him under wraps. It worked as long as he was sequestered in his gold-gilt penthouse and at his resorts. But now that he's under the microscope 24/7, they can't keep Trump from being Trump. Brian missed the point completely.

With Trump In The White House, MSNBC Is Resisting The Resistance

...From outside, it might seem odd to see the premier liberal network veering right, even as liberals around the country are fired up to resist the administration of President Donald Trump.

But from inside, the news about Wallace and Hewitt was seen as just two more steps toward the full execution of the vision of Andy Lack, the NBC News executive who oversees MSNBC. He has made quite clear his plan to move the cable news network away from its bedrock liberalism and toward a more centrist approach personified by Brian Williams — even including hosts of a conservative bent, as typified by hosts like Megyn Kelly or Greta Van Susteren, who Lack brought over from Fox News.

But Lack, in seeking to make this vision a reality, has an unusual problem for a TV executive: sky-high ratings. Since the election of Trump, MSNBC’s liberal primetime programs hosted by Chris Hayes, Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O’Donnell have surged not just in ratings but in the share of the cable news audience they’re capturing. In its earnings call on Thursday, NBCUniversal specifically cited the boost in ratings to “The Rachel Maddow Show” for a spike in profits. Maddow has been the top show on cable news in the key demographic for two months running, an inconceivable achievement at MSNBC.

Tossing those primetime hosts overboard while they’re raking in viewership and revenue has so far proved an elusive task.

10. That DOES show that
Wed May 3, 2017, 07:41 AM
May 2017

the RW-owned corpo-fascist M$M are willing to LOSE $$ in order to pound their RW "message" (agenda) to as much of the populace as they can reach. Meanwhile liberals/progressives whine about "messaging" but won't put their $$$ behind creating a megaphone. But doing that not just requires a "network" (like Al Franken attempted with "Air America&quot but it requires the STATIONS to run the programming (which is why liberal/progressive programs get squeezed out or completely eliminated). AND it requires being willing to operate for decades at a loss, considering that "loss" a "win" because it is a "donation" towards getting the message out.

And then when one pushes for this type of "Bless the child that has his own" mode of functioning, you have folks saying - "Well you're creating a 'bubble' if you do that...". And so that push-back means we are forced to sit on the sidelines whining about "messaging".

That's how I get my daily Rachel fix. Here in the Manistee National Forest in western rural Michigan we do not have such luxuries as cable TV or broadband Internet. Hell, we don't even have NBC broadcasts!

But we do have a semblance of connectivity in the guise of the cellular network, as poor as it is here. The metric is, "How far are you from the nearest cell tower?"

Thankfully I am close enough so I can get my daily DU! However, here in rural USA there are rather severe download limits. While all you urban connection minions post your YouTube links, we here cannot afford any such luxuries, unless one wants to pay $10 extra per every Gbyte above our five Gbyte maximum.

What happened to Obama's broadband for everybody?

Even fucking Finland has that!!!

Rachel has an audio podcast. Point your podcast aggregator towards "Rachel Maddow" and subscribe to the audio version. Easy-Peasy! It's only 10 MB! Easily accessible even here in the national forest.

And no cell coverage either. A friend of mine lives in one of those neighborhoods in Pahoa on the Big Island and it has had an impact on my friendship with her, as I can't send her pictures or links or any news unless I read it to her or print it out and mail it.

For the first ten years or so we got through it but I noticed lately I've lost touch a bit. Funny, we really do take internet access for granted. Thanks for the window into your area.
