No cause for alarm about Queen Elizabeth and Philip after royal staff called to meeting: source

'There is no cause for alarm about the welfare of Queen Elizabeth or her husband Prince Philip after all senior royal staff were summoned to a meeting at Buckingham Palace, a well-placed source told Reuters on Thursday.

The Daily Mail newspaper had earlier reported that senior aides from across the country had been called to Buckingham Palace for an emergency meeting, leading to wide speculation on social media about the health of the royals.

"There's no cause for alarm," the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Reuters.

Buckingham Palace had no comment on the Mail report but the source said such all-staff meetings did occur occasionally.'>>>

Staff meeting was called for 3 AM their time, not ours. It's now 8 AM and the foul mouthed knitters in the UK are all grumbling about how Buckingham's dragging their feet as usual on the Big Announcement and they've got to get to work. A lot of "fucks" are being typed.

I suggested the meeting was called when a prize corgi delivered a litter of half non corgi pups and they called everybody together to see whose dog did the damage.

ETA: announcement postponed until 10 AM London time.

I'm going to go read. Screw it.

Why is it newsworthy?

Seems weird that something which happens on occasion would be made such a big deal of.
