That is a great movie. Every American should watch it at least once a year.

I loved that movie.

I remember reading a Chicago theater critic's review of the movie. He said that he gets the list of plays 6 months or more in advance. When he saw that 1776 was coming and it was about the story of how our Founding Fathers (FF) came to unanimously vote for Independence, the critic initially thought the play would be boring because we ALL know that our Founding Fathers unanimously voted for it. He said that he had planned to write his critique during the first 5 minutes of the show and then snooze through the remaining 2 hours. But when he actually attended the play, it was during the first 5-10 minutes of the story when our FF acted like frat boys, that it dawned on the critic that no one had ever really taught him the story about how the FF unanimously voted for the Declaration of Independence. That fact was usually taught to students in a single sentence, but the real battle to get a bunch of eccentric men, some of whom were very egotistical, from different walks of life to actually unanimously support Independence is an interesting story.

Happy 4th of July!
