The complete failure of the GOP leadership

The GOP leadership and Trump are the most corrupt, venal in the country ever. They are basically the same as a criminal mob. Plus they are out-right traitors. GOP of the senate and House intel committees have already started to obstruct and delay the Russia investigations. Trump has installed directors into just about every agency to destroy them, and, at best, to make them terribly incompetent and unable to function. The GOP promise to let congressmen have 3 days to read and debate a bill has been dishonored, and their wretched so-called healthcare bill has not even been scored by the CBO. As Pelosi said, the shame and infamy of this damned no-healthcare bill will be stamped forever on their foreheads.

Why? Mostly because the GOP are controlled by corporations and billionaires, who don't want to pay any taxes ever, except for the military, militarized police (to keep the wage-slaves in place), and the militarized immigration police. But they don't want to pay with their money, but with your money in taxes. All they care about is money. Their desire to acquire more and more money is insatiable. They are happy to privatize as many gov products and services as possible and award those contracts to themselves and their cronies. They are happy to let predatory banks and payday lenders charge 300% APR on loans and high hidden fees on debit card swipes. They are happy to trash the environment and atmosphere to steal as much natural resources, oil, gas, lumber, water, minerals, etc as possible for profit, yet leave the cost of clean-up, if any, to tax payers. It's called privatize profits and socialize the costs.

They live in gated communuties with private clubs and golf courses. They send their kids to elite private schools. They never have to deal with the poor and middle-class. They can afford healthcare at any cost, fabulous vacations, lackeys to run their homes and chauffer them around. They live a wonderful life, and care not a wit about us.

As dreadful as this all sounds, and it is dreadful, nothing lasts forever. Nothing. The thing that we most have to guard against is allowing ourselves to fall into despair, depression, and indifference. We need to stay positive and see all the GOP's horrible legislation and policies as another stab wound in the lives of working people. We need to keep talking and writing about policies, rather than the crazy personality of Trump and the stupidities of the deplorables. Most Americans agree with Dem positions and policies. We just have to GOTV. So stay strong. Stay focused on the prize. Don't despair and fall into indifference. Do what you can to resist and win elections and defeat these criminals with votes.

I think we do have to engage with why there are so many "deplorables" and toxic ideas rooted in fear of diversity so we have to continue to speak up for and defend those who will be victimized because of this fear. ( not saying you didn't make this point, just adding it to expand on your thoughts)

The GOP has pandered to the deep dark emotional fears, greed, phobias, and hatreds of people to get votes. Plus they have gerrymandered districts and suppressed votes to get their very corrupt maximize profit legislation. They do not care how they stay in power, just that they do. The vast majority of people who vote for them basically agree with most of the Democratic platform. But they vote their fears, greed, phobias, and hatreds. They don't vote with either their reason, or with a compassionate heart.

A Buddhist friend reminded me that when we turn to political action, we do so for the benefit of everyone. That is the correct motivation - to benefit everyone. Those that vote for these despicably greedy Republicans are ignorant in the classic Buddhist sense of ignorance. They vote for republicans for whatever their reasons. But we must stay clear and focused on engaging in political action that benefits everyone. Yes, even the deplorables.

and that they will continue to cheat and steal elections.

Otherwise - I just can't understand all the damage they are doing to this country. It should be political suicide - but they are just thumbing their noses at us and willfully destroying this country.

It's like vampires. Once they bleed everyone dry, what are they going to feed on? Once the wealthy elites have starved the rest of us to death, how are they going to keep on living? Who will grow their food? Who will build their planes, houses, and cars? Who will mow their golf courses?

Unbridled insatiable greed is a form of profound ignorance. They think that they are immortal and will live forever.
