It needs to be said over and over. They need to have a real plan complete with how much it will cost and how it will be funded.

now is the time to make the case for taking money out of healthcare. now is the time to make the case for the benefits of caring for ALL our citizens.
and just saying- everyone else does it and they saves money- IS.NOT.ENOUGH...

i have been seeing the commercials about free college in new york. they are selling the benefits of an educated workforce.
sell the benefits of a healthy work force.
i will say that again- sell the benefits of a healthy workforce.

so many workers, so very many, who we have invested thousands and thousands of dollars in by the time they reach college age, and then invested more in giving them a college education, have to drop out of the workforce when they get sick. not infrequently w treatable, manageable illnesses and disorders.
how stupid is that?
how immoral that is is not going to appeal to a lot of people. but dollars and sense, it is just stupid.

and investing in healthcare is investing in science. doctors and hospitals dont just fix broken people. they solve health problems. both in research and advancement, but also in management of complex illnesses.

and it is a job creation machine. good jobs. high tech and low tech as well.
and lifting the burden of healthcare from our manufacturing companies levels the playing field in ways that tariffs and trade pacts just cant touch.

there is only one thing better than obamacare, and maybe this debacle is what will give us the chance to make that case.

AND.THEY.DAMN.WELL.BETTER.

How can we hope to compete in a world market where employers don't bear the brunt of medical insurance? A healthy society is a productive society. It makes me so frustrated that people don't seem to understand this.

Whenever it comes up it MUST be "Medicare for all" rather than single payer or universal healthcare. People understand "Medicare" and they probably know somebody that has been a recipient. It lacks the "scary" of Canadian wait times (That Canadian waiting thing is a complete lie--but nobody seems to give a shit about that little factoid!) and it also leaves it open that patients select the docs just like Grandma and Grandpa do now...

Now is the time to demonstrate exactly what the differences are in the two parties.
