Funny experience in Sociology class yesterday.

That morning, I had watched a documentary about the Nixon presidency. For 54-year-old me, it was a trip down memory lane: The Pentagon Papers, Watergate, the 18-minute gap, the "plumbers unit," Haldeman, Erlichman, Butterfiield, Sam Ervin . . . You get the idea, if you're my age. But when I arrived early for Sociology class and was talking about these things before class started, you should have seen the blank looks on the faces of the twentysomethings! What do they teach about Watergate in schools these days?

I don't remember if that was the text or the teacher, but in my high school history ended with WW2.

We watched it unfold piece by piece. It was on the network news almost every night for 1.5 years.

Nixon abused presidential privilege, covered up his crimes, destroyed evidence, and his final parting shot was giving us Gerald Ford.
