White House Postpones Another Climate Change Meeting

White House advisers on Monday postponed another meeting about the United States’ participation in the Paris climate change agreement. The meeting was scheduled for Tuesday.

White House spokesperson Kelly Love confirmed delay, first reported by Politico, in an email to TPM. She did not say who was involved in discussions about the Paris agreement.

The White House has appeared hesitant to address the climate deal, which Trump railed against during the 2016 campaign, but on which his advisers appear to be divided.

A White House Official told Politico that the First Daughter will be meeting with department heads and cabinet officials on a “listening tour” to “discuss issues like helping working families and supporting women’s economic empowerment.”

She’ll also reportedly meet with EPA administrator Scott Pruitt twice this week “as part of the administration’s process to decide whether to abandon the Paris climate treaty,” and she’ll “sit down … with HHS Secretary Tom Price, VA Secretary David Shulkin, [and] Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta to discuss workforce development and SBA Administrator Linda McMahon to discuss entrepreneurship.”

To rehash, Ivanka is discussing policy to promote working families, women’s economic empowerment, workforce development, and entrepreneurship, and she’s helping her dad to decide whether or not to keep the Paris climate treaty in place

6. You know how some fathers indulge their children, and sometimes, especially a daughter?

Not in any real meaningful way, but more of a condescending, my daughter is the best in the world and she has her little causes and charities, which I encourage - no matter how much I don't listen (or care) - kind of way.

More like the isn't she cute being all serious about this stuff sexism?

IT will do her "listening tour", give her opinion, and her father will do what he wants to do anyway.

Now, he could decide to remain party to the Paris climate deal, but it won't be because of his daughter. It will be because some foreign (male) leader calls him up and explains the need for it.

Like every other time.

This tour is part of the persona being shaped that IT is trying to learn....but her latest book shows how much she is capable of actually learning. She lives in a bubble and won't step outside of it to learn anything else. Just look to who she is going to talk to on this "listening tour".

The idea that Trump, who views all women as secondary and an afterthought, somehow respects his daughter is laughable. He is proud of her, yes - but more for the way she looks, how much she conforms to how he thinks women should be, and how he looks having her as a daughter.
