The former still has his fastball. The latter should be put out to stud. I know I mixed metaphors.

(267,845 posts)I detest the hack but right now he looks and sounds like a stage four cancer patient -he can barely speak.
He was never a Dan Rather

Great pairing with Jon Meacham.
Tweety didn't even talk over either of them.

(7,890 posts)Rather is 85 years old. Mr. "The Greatest Generation" is 77. One still has a soul, one sold his a long time ago.

(3,702 posts)I want to hear what he has to say, but I can't get past the sound of his dentures. It is so petty I know, I think I have misophonia - my husband cannot chew or breathe near me without me having to turn on something to drown out the sound.
But Dan Rather has been so spot on with his analysis and his own journalistic experience. Brokaw is just a tool.

(4,878 posts)Treatment since diagnosed a few years ago.
It is an incurable blood cancer, manageable through chemo pills. I know as my husband also suffers from it. Treatment is very strong chemo drugs and hopefully cancer markers decrease and you can go only less strong chemo maintenance. It affects bones and can cause great pain.
That he is continuing to work and still living his life is a wonderful thing. I'm glad he is out there being a part of the industry he has been a big part of.
