Brief presser after Burr and Warner met with Rosenstein; Warner said he doesn't have confidence in Rosenstein and we need special prosecutor. Burr disagrees. It seemed really awkward.

(34,407 posts)I'm in VA and have never found him to be as strong an advocate for certain positions as I would like. He may now be our best hope at getting justice. I think he's trying not to alienate Burr and others in the hope of moving them to the special prosecutor/independent counsel side. He doesn't have enough power to force anyone. But he's not caving at this point because I think he is genuinely troubled by what has happened.

(20,998 posts)...is widespread and involves MANY Rethuglicans in both houses of Congress. I believe Burr KNOWS that an impartial Special Investigation could spell the end of the GOP as he knows it. The GOP mortgaged their souls for their political trifecta: the White House and both Houses of Congress... lies have been told, laws have been broken. The bill will eventually come due.
