I am sure that he has to have all his ducks in a row like Yates did. This whole thing is going to take a long time because there are so many pieces (and themes one might say - notably "financial&quot that would threaten to pull the focus specifically on the election and Russia, completely off the top of the list. Of course if RICO can take them out beforehand, then I guess that helps with dealing with the involved individuals, but not with the problem of the election interference.

As much as I don't like what Comey did before the election, I don't like backing Trump's alternate reality.

made out to be some kind of a martyr.

He is a partisan Republican who caused incredible damage to our republic. And it makes no difference to him if Trump is taken down. Either way the GOP has the White House back and they have Neil Gorsuch on the court, rather than Merick Garland.

This will be historic. The White House is attempting to enforce restrictions on what he can say, per conversations with Trump. But he is free to testify to what wasn't said. And he will expose some of the efforts to derail the investigation.

Between the open letter, the tweets, and the interviews, Dipshit Donnie has waived his executive privilege.

when he stated that Comey said "xxx". Comey can now defend himself against anything pertaining to "xxx" and Trump can't stop him or hold him responsible staying exec privilege. Trump stepped into his own shit by making the claim in public that Comey said he was not investigating him. Trump doesn't listen to councel.
That's what I understand.

And we know how it will end.

Donald Trump is the worst possible person to have in a deposition. He doesn't respect his attorneys, who he often doesn't pay and never listens to their advise.

Donald Trump has one outstanding accomplishment: He is the worlds' worst subject at a deposition as this remarkable deposition shows. Exposed over and over again.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/apps/g/page/politics/deposition-of-donald-trump-on-trump-university/1981/

He will eventually give evidence or testify. Lester Holt is a good guy but not a very tough interviewer and Trump couldn't resist admitting to obstruction of justice to him. He probably would admit to it if the weather girl at a Boise TV station asked him.

The final scene will be Trump completely unravelling ala Queeg before the cameras where he admits to everything including kidnapping the Lindberg kid. Personally I can't wait.

At the end of the day, he is a smart man. He's smarter than they are. I'm sure he realized Trump could and might fire him.

He's made contingencies. The way his "confidants" and "associates" are leaking with precise regularity suggests the response has been carefully planned and coordinated.

Comey will definitely be walking a tightrope, but he's done so in the past. Plus, Trump's inability to restrain himself has in itself served to declassify information that would otherwise have been afforded privileged status.
