My faith leads me to be more tolerant of others - more forgiving and less judgmental. I'm more aware of my own faults so I'm less willing to look down on others for theirs.

They study the same books as me, and yet they seem to come to opposite conclusions.

I'm beginning to think the Bible is a giant Rorschach test.

This is done to fit the will of the GOP. I've never understood why the Democrats don't make a major party wide effort to bring back Christians. After all, our political ideals and true Christian beliefs are almost perfectly aligned. Yet the Dems just let the GOP "have" religion.

Between Fox News, hate radio, and the collusion between various churches and the GOP (Starting w/ Reagan, in particular), people have been convinced that Christianity is what the bad guys say it is.

There's no excuse for that.

If you claim the bible is the word of god, then you're responsible for reading it.

Just taking some loudmouth's word for it is unacceptable.

My parents summer home was in Ocean Grove NJ. While the Methodist Camp Meeting Association ran wonderful programs; but I had to hear:

- " you are not a Christian, you are a catholic"
- " my dad is a pastor and he talks to god so I'm right"
-" as long as you go to church on Sunday you can sin all you want during the week and Jesus will forgive you"

BTW Scott Rasmussen, of the right wing Rasmussen report, was part of my older brothers group. He was a jerk before his dad made it big with ESPN

It's one of the many reasons I converted to Buddhism 27 years ago.
I thought, "If those are Christians, I need a different religion".

After which they told me I'd burn in Hell while they're partying in Heaven.

Everyone blissed out and chanting praises to god, maybe, but not what I'd call a party.
