dissatisfaction.
My friend of many decades (from college) is a Republican, the variety that harkens back to the kind from the Sixties. Socially progressive. Worked for Kidder-Peabody, later for Paine Webber, and then UBS (Securities firm).
She's wellread. She's a critical thinker. Not a blind disciple.
She didn't think twice about voting for HRC last November, not because she loved her but she feared for the economy and for the future of US democracy if Trump were elected.
When we discuss Trump nowadays, she's more vociferous in her outrage of Trump than I am, if that's possible.
She hasn't switched parties as she thinks of Trump as an interloper and would love to have her party returned. While she may have tolerated some of Reagan's fiscal policies, she doesn't support Ryan, McConnell, or any of the Freedom Caucus. And she's on Obamacare and doesn't want to give it up.
Right now she's a voter without a party to support her political viewpoints.
My guess is there are quite few republicans in exile like my friend. I just wish they would make their presence known.
