Republicans in N.C. Senate cut education funding but only in Democratic districts. Really.By Valerie Strauss May 14 at 10:16 AM
This bit of North Carolina news wont get as much attention as the infamous bathroom bill, which insisted that people at public schools and other government-run facilities use bathrooms that correspond to the gender listed on their birth certificate, sparking a boycott of the state. But it is worth noting as a new lesson in how not to drag schools and kids into your legislative skirmishes and as the latest attack on public education by North Carolina Republicans.
During a budget debate in the state Senate that started Thursday and went into the early hours of Friday, Republicans became annoyed at Democrats who, the Republicans thought, were unnecessarily offering amendments and prolonging the session. According to the News & Observer, Democrats offered five amendments pushing funding priorities, each of which was voted down.

(837 posts)1. NC has slipped down the sanity rabbit hole ...
If you read more about this story you learn that "despicable" would be too gentle a term for what they did.
It would almost be worth me becoming religious to watch the Republicans there all BURN IN HELL .... 'cause when they are standing at the Pearly Gates babbling their excuses for mistreating their fellow men/women/children, the Big Guy ain't gonna be pleased ....

(12,584 posts)2. This surgical strike must be one of the publicans new
techniques for destroying our democracy. In AZ the legislature voted to cut gang suppression funds, but only for the county (the largest, and presumably the one with the most gangs) that booted out their former sheriff/thug and voted in a new Dem one.
