Where Trump Went VERY Wrong
Being a man totally devoid of honesty, integrity, and patriotism, he failed to realize that there are people working within our government in whom those attributes are deeply ingrained and regarded as sacrosanct. They cannot be dissuaded from doing the right thing by any means. They are not vulnerable to bribery or threats; they will never allow any amount of bullying to lead them away from putting their country first.
Such people hold various positions within our government. They are part of our intelligence community, our judicial system, our political system. They exist at every level of our government, from small state offices to the highest echelons of power. Some of them hold positions of power; some of them have responsibilities that are less influential. But they do exist – and they are everywhere.
What Trump has repeatedly failed to understand is that these people will never allow their loyalty to a “president” or a political party to supersede their loyalty to their fellow citizens. They will never remain silent if there is a truth that needs to be told; they will never stand by and do nothing if speaking out will accomplish revealing the truth.
Trump has built his entire life around the idea that loyalty to him will outweigh all else, that fealty to one’s country can be somehow be overridden, that if enough pressure is brought to bear, honesty, integrity and patriotism can be expunged.
Where are “the leaks” coming from, Donny? Who are these “anonymous sources” that are constantly sounding the alarm about your actions, your statements, your behaviour? They’re coming from those who you can’t buy, bully, or threaten. They are coming from people whose honesty, integrity, and patriotism is such that it leaves no room for compromise when it comes to the security and well-being of the country. They are coming from people whose motives are grounded in qualities of character you have no familiarity with, no less possess.
Here’s the ultimate truth, Donny: There are people who hate you, people who know you’re an incompetent fuck-up, people who know you’re a bloviating idiot incapable of telling the truth about anything. But they’re not your biggest problem. Your biggest problem is the fact that you don’t know – and will never know – who among your staff or those in a position to reveal the truth are more than willing to do so, not out of personal malice or political one-upmanship, but simply because their country is far more important to them than you will ever be.
In other words, Donny, YOU fucked-up – because you trusted them. You trusted them to put YOU above all other considerations. You trusted them to cover your ass when you lie, to make excuses when you demonstrate your incompetence, to look the other way while you share our nation’s secrets with our country’s sworn enemy.
YOU fucked-up when you assumed that once elected pOTUS, you were untouchable, that no one would dare question your actions or the motives behind them. YOU fucked-up when you assumed that people of honesty, integrity and patriotism would abandon their long-held principles in order to protect your idiocy, your self-serving agenda – and ultimately, your treason.
They won’t. The leaks will continue. The truth will out. The patriots among us will prevail.
