(996 posts)Last night's "non-denial denial" has just been totally refuted. Now, McMaster doesn't have any credibility either.

(4,429 posts)I wonder what McMaster will do now. I sort of think that Mattis and the Joint Chiefs of Staff will be the ones to step in and go to the Republicans. It's clear that Trump can't do this job and they know it. Someone has to light a flame under the republicans in congress and it's been my belief that this will come from the military (at least I hope it does).
We can't wait until the next election cycle. Too much is at risk.

(168 posts)You mean the meeting where American media were barred and Russian photographers were allowed free reign of the oval office? Trump is correct that as President he has the right to declassify whatever information he wants to whomever he wants but those decisions come with consequences.

(37,157 posts)There's going to be at least one show that will go for PeeWee Herman reading Donnie's "I meant to do that" tweets.
Have your agent start calling around.

(9,359 posts)IF a president wants to, he can share any information he wants with anyone he wants. All classification of materiels is based upon what a president deems important enough to classify.
In a court of law, no president can be convicted of declassifying or sharing classified material.
Agencies do classify material, but those classifications are based upon what a president wants to protect.
Madam Mossfern
(2,340 posts)but the ally that shared the information may decide to take their ball and play somewhere else.
It's not the act itself, but it's the consequences.
Vinca
(50,237 posts)Like a child, he has no perception of what consequences are. He wants instant gratification - in this case schmoozing with his buddies the Russians - and he's never going to change. This country is probably at its most perilous point in history because the President's party is enabling rather than stopping.

(9,359 posts)Presidents' perogative. The ethical issue deserves the criticism, but the hyperbole by some is a bit over the top.
Personally, I don't believe Israel to be he great ally that some want us to believe they are.
Freethinker65
(10,001 posts)He did it to impress the Russians, not to get their cooperation. That is why Trump is so dangerous Trump is fulfilling his duty to Trump, not to the USA.

(11,101 posts)"You just don't do it"
Mr. Ected
(9,670 posts)But the way that he did it - a knee-jerk regurgitation of sensitive information without prior discussion or vetting by senior advisors - quite possibly imperiled our assets in the Middle East and diminished our allies' trust in us.
With this President, it seems like everything he does is measured in whether it was legal or not. That's a sad standard to have to apply to the Commander in Chief. The question is whether what he divulged to the Russians was appropriate or part of a quid pro quo. It was neither. It was simply Wordvomit von Fuckstick's lack of self control on full display, and people are now in grave danger.
LOCK. THEM. UP.

(17,421 posts)a valid characterization of tRump's actions is that they are like masturbation. Totally self centered, done alone, requiring no help from others, when caught at it, denial followed by bravado and so on.
His tweets are just him jacking off.
SAD!
