Mike Huckabee hates the Supreme Court...

Any bets as to when Huckabee is exposed in a sex/money scandal?

Mike Huckabee: The Supreme Court Declared ‘We Are God’ In Obergefell Decision

By Kyle Mantyla | May 16, 2017 10:40 am

Appearing with Religious Right psuedo-historian David Barton in a new DVD called “The Constitutional Christian,” Mike Huckabee railed against the Supreme Court’s 2015 Obergefell decision striking down state bans on same-sex marriage, asserting that the court had declared itself God and warning that “God’s not going to be mocked.”

Huckabee fumed that, because of this decision, America is no longer a republic but “a nation that is governed by five unelected black-robed lawyers” who declared that “there is no 10th Amendment, we can do whatever we doggone well want to and we don’t have to have language, we don’t have to have words, we don’t have to have boundaries or parameters, we are God.”

“I know that they didn’t say it in that term,” Huckabee said, “but what they basically said in June of 2015 was, ‘We are God; we’re not just the god of law in the country, we are God Almighty and we have redefined marriage according to the wishes of five unelected lawyers.”

“Anytime a nation turns away from truth, turns away from holiness and righteousness, there are consequences,” he warned. “There’s a consequence to sin and it doesn’t matter who does it and it doesn’t matter when it’s happening, it has no boundaries. It’s a universal reality that the wages of sin is death—the scripture says that. God’s not going to be mocked, so there is no way that we’re going to say, ‘Well, that was true up until now, but we’ve found a way to circumvent God’s law.’ You can’t circumvent it.”

There are many amazing things in this world. One of the most astonishing is that many people still appear to believe in talking snakes and asses, global floods, magical gods who live way up in the sky, virgin pregnancies, men living inside fish and dead guys waking up after 3 days.

But then people who substitute faith for thinking don't have much intellectual horsepower anyway.

Telling us that God is not mocked, and that whatever current progress we're making as a race or people is turning away from (his) god, and boy-howdy, we're in for it now.

Huckabee is a step up from his fellow religious kooks in that he doesn't read the newspaper looking for natural phenomena like hurricanes and tornadoes as proof of God punishing us, but there are times I bet he wishes he didn't have such high standards.

Of course, for those kooks that do, now that a republican is in office, they have to somehow make both the case above as well as we're back on the right path.

Richard Dawkins distilled the attributes of the god of the bible succinctly:

"It is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it, a petty, unjust, unforgiving control freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic capriciously malevolent bully."

That is no joke, any scholar of the Old Testament will immediately recognize these characteristics in the first three chapters.

It's a peculiar insanity of our species that some of us think it's a good idea to even acknowledge, much less worship such a monster.

Those who are inclined to believe in absurdities such as imaginary gods can easily be persuaded to commit atrocities...a pretty accurate description of many contemporary American "christians".

Jealous and proud of it? Check.
A petty, unjust, unforgiving control freak? Check.
A vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser? Jury's out on that one.
A misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic capriciously malevolent bully? Check. Mate.

Maybe God is sending a message to the Supreme Court. Just not the message Mike Huckabee wants to hear.

5. ...a God who could make good children as easily as bad ones, yet preferred to make bad ones; who could have made every one of them happy, yet never made a single happy one; who made them prize their bitter life, yet stingily cut it short; who gave his angels eternal happiness unearned, yet required his other children to earn it; who gave his angels painless lives, yet cursed his other children with biting miseries and maladies of mind and body; who mouths justice, and invented hell--mouths mercy, and invented hell--mouths Golden Rules and foregiveness multiplied by seventy times seven, and invented hell; who mouths morals to other people, and has none himself; who frowns upon crimes, yet commits them all; who created man without invitation, then tries to shuffle the responsibility for man's acts upon man, instead of honorably placing it where it belongs, upon himself; and finally, with altogether divine obtuseness, invites his poor abused slave to worship him!

Whatever.

Rightwing nitwits whining about "unelected judges" is as tedious as it is ignorant and wrong.

Huckabee is nothing but a hateful bigot.
