On Following Trump's Trip to Europe, etc.

Following on his embarrassing (at a minimum) slip in dumping classified info on the Russians, The Donald is about to leave on a Middle East and European trip. He'll be visiting Saudi Arabia and Israel (watch your step there, dude) and then it's off to Rome to meet the Pope and then to Europe, where he'll be meeting our NATO Allies.

Frankly, he's going to be out of his league and out of his element during the entire trip. He speaks only English (and that poorly) and hasn't a clue about proper diplomatic behavior. He has no expertise in world affairs (not interested) and knows no history of anything. The people he'll be talking to are mostly sophisticated leaders with great knowledge and skills in all the areas where Trump is deficient.

Trump's unlikely to enjoy his journey. He's going to feel ill at ease with people who are much more intelligent and knowledgeable that himself, and it quite likely to blunder his way into multiple embarrassing gaffes along the way. He may well (almost certainly) encounter protests from Europeans, who don't much care for egotistical Americans in general and Trump in particular.

He's also uncomfortable in groups of people, and often can do little but stand oafishly and awkwardly with a sickly smile on his face and nothing to add to the conversation. In all the ways other Presidents have shone in such situations, Trump will bring darkness and shame on our country, wherever he goes. Gosh darn it, people just don't like him, it seems.

So, watch for tweeting and flop-sweating from Der Drumpfenfuhrer on this trip. He's going to be uncomfortable more than comfortable most of the time. He's also going to be on camera quite a bit, standing there with people who are nicer looking, smarter, and better dressed. It should be interesting to watch. A bit of comic relief, perhaps, from the sorry showing he has made lately.

The trip begins this Friday, so grab a chair and watch the fun unfold as he bumbles his way along uncomfortably and emits his usual word salad. The Donald's taking his show on the road!

He has absolutely nothing of intelligence to say.

Plus he wont be the center of attention, it will be like putting up with drunk uncle for those countries.

The ugliest American.

They broke down the daily intelligence report to 3 pages of bullet points & he probably didn't even read those, he will keep making grievous errors.

difficult it was going to be for him to get through it. True, he has more stamina than many 70-year olds, but he is still 70 years old. This kind of trip is hard on the body of a 50 year old. One only has to look at how tired Obama was after a trip like this. You're sleeping in a different bed every night and eating food w/ which you are unfamiliar. Sleep is elusive and digestive regularity probably even more so.

He is completely uncurious about the items under discussion and will fight sleepiness at all turns. If it ain't about him, he is bored. He can only impress so many people w/ intel secrets before somebody tells him that they don't want to listen as they now fear for their own confidentiality.

There is a reason this is his first trip to another nation. He could not put it off any longer. Up until now he could insist they come to him, kiss his ring and flatter him or, better yet, stay in one of his hotels. This entire trip makes no sense to him and I can only wonder if Melania can help take some of the edge off by her mere presence.

I want to hope he won't embarrass us any further, but know that is probably fruitless. I will just cross my fingers and pray to any god that will hear me that we escape w/ most of our friendships intact.

that people conversing in languages other than English are talking about him, given his swollen ego, combined with his vast sense of inferiority. If he follows his pattern, he will show up for meetings briefly, but will then retire to his hotel and order something familiar to eat. He will feel, and be, out of place the entire time, hearing foreign languages, looking at signs he cannot read, and being puzzled about anything historical, philosophical or any references to writings he has not even heard of.

He is a simpleton, in the end, and acts as a simpleton who uses bluster to mask his ignorance acts.

feeling sorry for him as he truly does not understand. He will think they are talking about him despite having an interpreter as that would call for him having to pay attention and he doesn't want to do that either.

Not sure how much KFC there is in Saudi Arabia, but I'm sure they'll try to figure something out.

Still, he will not be able to bully all - if any - of those around him as he is not in control and he really does not understand why.

Ignorance may be bliss in some areas, but in this one paranoia will reign.

Downthread, I ponder whether the Saudis will give him a taste of real Saudi hospitality by putting on a traditional camel feast for his pleasure. They just might do that. It's their idea of a royal welcome, after all. Photo also downthread. I would love it.

He will love the gilded Saudi Arabia.

He will love the crowds for the Pope, thinking they are there for him.

He will fidget thru Europe and sweat in Israel.

Long time without golf and bet he gets Ivanka to show up in Israel - or Jared in his yarmulke.

Did I read somewhere that Melania was going on at least part of the trip?

Meanwhile Pence will measure the drapes and Ryan and McConnell will be busy busy busy to screw all of us left at home without the Dump nearby.

If he feels out of his element in DC, this trip is going to drive him over the edge. I can't wait to see how this turns out.

15. He can't stop his constant hand gestures. He has no control of himself:

I found this article, and I predict Trump will do a "Thumbs-up" the second he steps off the plane. He uses every single offensive gesture in the article. He can't stop himself. The one that makes my skin crawl most is the "OK" symbol with Trump's delicate little manicured pinky in the air. "Thumbs Up" was ruined for me by Face Book & is all the more nauseating now that it's been appropriated as a "trademark" by Trump. In the ME, with or without his handlers, he'll be pointing at him and giving the palm to her, not to mention the embarrassing non sequiturs issued from his disruptive mouth, his infantile need to shock people, and his color-coded giveaway election maps, bless his heart.

Usually, the U.S. President winds up standing at the middle. I wonder if they'll line up Merkel there now, with Rump off to the side pouting and munching on an extra-crispy chicken leg.

If he can't be the center of attention, he might not show up at all.
