So we know it is a good thing.
He's been a blowhard, just looking for attention, for years. And now he is pre-judging DT's innocence.. Beyond saying he's innocent till proven guilty, he's saying it's UNLIKELY that DT will be found guilty. And he has no basis for saying that.
And remember, this "civil libertarian" criticized the American media for not going after Amanda Knox, saying that there was a mountain of evidence against her. The highest court in Italy said there was NO credible evidence against her. And after 8 years of trials and 4 years in prison, they said she was definitively innocent.
But Alan attacked Amanda Knox, while he's supporting DT. Some civil libertarian.
ON EDIT: If anyone else is wondering why I posted a link to Fox, it's because that's where Alan Dershowitz chose to publish this opinion piece.

To be criminal there must be admissible evidence that proves beyond a reasonable doubt that a statutory crime has been committed. It is unlikely that such a conclusion will be reached by the special counsel with regard to President Trump or anyone currently in his administration. It is possible that he may find criminal conduct on the part of General Flynn, but even that is unlikely. But even if Flynn were to be indicted it is certainly possible that Trump would pardon him.

(45,806 posts)I was stunned when his appointment was announced and members from both parties had praise for it. That was the very few good things that happened in a very long time.

Maybe he's on the payroll as well.

I didn't want to say it, as I don't know much about it. I do know that Dershowitz was evidently exonerated. I'm a lawyer, mostly not practicing now. I did not know that was his turning point, but it makes me very suspicious.
However, I'm Not scared of him. I filed a complaint against AG Sessions, which was a bit scary, given his resources, general government indemnification, and my limited resources. As someone said, you just get used to being hated by a lot of people, who have no idea what the real story is, and you cannot tell them, because of the many rules that bind lawyers.
Now, I'm wondering if he had to switch sides to save his butt. Unconscionable.

(11,101 posts)At this point there are any number of people who will put on television to give solid legal analysis before he will. Dershowitz knows he can get on tv by being the counterpoint that cable news always feels they need. This, some might say, makes one a publicity seeking shill.

(58,724 posts)That is your source?
On CNN, he said he would've preferred "a special investigative committee" so that everything could be out in the open rather than secret.
Is that not a reasonable position?
pnwmom
(108,977 posts)published his opinion piece.
He also says that he doesn't think we need a prosecutor because he doubts any actual crimes were involved -- and that is NOT a reasonable position.
What would be reasonable is if he advocated for BOTH an independent commission and the Mueller investigation -- as many are suggesting. But he went so far in his interviews to say that he doesn't believe in having Grand Juries -- at all.
