or if he is forced out somehow or other, does this get the GOP off the hook in time for the midterms? Or will the stink remain like a dead chicken hanging around their necks? Does Mueller's appointment also get them off the hook? They no longer have the main responsibility to investigate.
Do you think they are going to want to try to sweep this all away in time for the midterms, and if so, will it work?
Hard to say which way I'd want it if in their shoes. One thing is certain: they are getting precious little done on the hill these days, with all this chaos going on.
We're having a great time watching, and it would be great to get that baffoon away from the nuclear codes and international relations, but then what?

(111,245 posts)While I don't see him completing four years, I don't think things have gotten hot enough for him to resign any time soon. He still has his keepers in the White House with him, although he does miss Flynn. Pick off a few more of those and make him more isolated, surrounded by functionaries whose job it is to limit the damage he's doing, he'll finally get frustrated enough to blow a fit and quit. Or make it hot enough that he's facing what Nixon did, an imminent impeachment that would likely result in his removal and prison he will try to cut a deal to leave quietly in exchange for his pension.

(901 posts)even if that were to happen quickly, it won't save the GOP in the next election because of their ridiculous tRumpCare/RyanCare bill, which is nothing but a tax giveaway to the wealthy and removes the safeguards that the majority of citizens really like, such as coverage being provided for pre-existing conditions. On top of that, they've gutted the EPA, and people on both sides of the aisle want clean water and air. They're bungling and will face voter backlash.
