A snip from link------Mechler did not recommend a successor, who will be chosen by the State Republican Executive Committee at its quarterly meeting June 3.
But he said that he hoped they would select a candidate who shares his goal to make our party look more like Texas.
We live in a diverse state, Mechler wrote. As the demographics continue to change, our state will soon have a majority-minority voting age population. If we do not continue to make efforts to engage in the diverse communities across Texas, our state will turn blue. This is no longer just a possibility, it is an inevitable reality if we fail to act.
Over the past two years, engagement has been my biggest passion. Weve taken unprecedented strides, and weve generated remarkable results, Mechler wrote. As the SREC selects who will serve as your next state chairman, I encourage them to find someone with this same passion. If we do not engage in the diverse communities across Texas, we will lose the state, then the nation, and there may be no coming back.

(111,245 posts)Republican conduct over the past 8 years, culminating with the election of a national disgrace as President, proves that the last thing that party will ever want to do is look like America.
1820s Britain, maybe. Certainly not like America.

(13,417 posts)That alone is enough to make you wonder what's going on with him.
That being said, given its population composition, it is surprising TX is as red as it is. Yeah, it is changing and fast. Just not fast enough, although HRC made some very impressive gains there this year.

(82,849 posts)"Coming back" from what, exactly, Mr. Mechler? And what do you mean by a "majority-minority voting age population"? Aren't we all Americans? Why would Republicans have difficulty connecting with Americans?
