Chaffetz, Comey to speak Monday

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah), the outgoing chairman of the House Oversight Committee, on Sunday said he expects to speak with former FBI Director James Comey on Monday.

“What I have heard is that I believe Director Comey and I are going to have a conversation on Monday. So I have not spoken directly with him,” Chaffetz told ABC’s “This Week” when asked if he had heard from the Justice Department about Comey publicly testifying about the circumstances surrounding his dismissal.

Chaffetz, who will resign from Congress at the end of June, said the committee is pursuing any possible documents detailing meetings between President Trump and Comey.

Trump earlier this month fired Comey, who had been leading the FBI’s investigation into Russia’s meddling in the United States presidential election and any potential ties between Trump campaign staff and Russia.

The White House in the past few weeks has provided varying reasons for Comey’s dismissal, including his handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server while she was secretary of State.

But in a subsequent interview with NBC News, Trump referenced the Russia probe when discussing his decision to fire Comey. ............

two of them, that is not gonna happen this time.

Why won't Rep. Cummings or other committee members be joining him?
