Mensch: Flynn has turned on DT, is talking to the FBI.

Let's hope so. We do know that Flynn has refused to testify to Congress without immunity.

https://patribotics.blog/2017/05/22/mike-flynn-turns-on-trump-talks-to-fbi/

Multiple sources with links to the intelligence and law enforcement communities say that Lt. Gen Mike Flynn has turned on Donald Trump, and has already had at least one lengthy interview with the FBI.

General Flynn has not been offered a deal as of yet, these sources say. They indicate that as of this writing Flynn has not been arrested. He would likely be offered a chance to surrender himself, sources report, when that time comes.

Sources with links to the Justice Department indicate that General Flynn has already been indicted. On Twitter, Claude Taylor exclusively reported on May 14th that an indictment against Flynn had been returned by a Grand Jury and that this indictment was sealed. I can further report that Flynn’s indictment is thought to be for his failure to register under FARA, the Foreign Agents’ Registration Act, for his lobbying for Turkey. Reporting by NBC of Grand Jury subpoenas in an investigation for which Flynn is the subject, sources say, cover separate offenses of Mike Flynn’s that are linked to Russia. These are being investigated under prosecutors at the Northern District of Virginia, with an attorney accustomed to handling espionage prosecutions.

Sources believe that General Mike “Misha” Flynn, to give him the Russian nickname he awarded himself when picked up by British intelligence committing treason in Cambridge, England, panicked when he heard that Special Counsel Robert Mueller had been appointed to head the investigation into Trump’s collusion with Russia.

2. How does that square with the letter released by his lawyers today

in which they state that Flynn will not release any documents because he is invoking his Fifth Amendment right? If he's talking to the FBI he's waiving that right, and presumably his lawyers wouldn't be asserting it. Is he making a proffer in the hope of receiving immunity? That's the only conceivable reason he'd be talking to the FBI that wouldn't be completely contrary to his lawyers' statement released this afternoon.

Added: The letter specifically refers only to the release of documents to the Senate committee pursuant to their subpoena, and not to testimony before the committee. But it seems very strange that he would be so adamantly refusing to release any documents while at the same time agreeing to talk to the FBI.

I will wait for more information from other sources.

In LBN, it's with the Senate panel that he is claiming the Fifth.

Is is feasible that he'll talk to the FBI but not the Senate?

12. There is a general principle that a waiver of 5th amendment rights in one case
Mon May 22, 2017, 07:51 PM

doesn't necessarily carry over to another case. But the 5th amendment applies only to criminal prosecutions, so it would make more sense if he was pleading the 5th as to the FBI and not the Senate. The Senate can't prosecute - their investigation could result in criminal prosecution only if the evidence turned up during that investigation was used by the FBI to prosecute someone. Is he asking the FBI for immunity? Or the Senate panel? In the Iran-Contra matter, Oliver North was given immunity by a congressional panel, and after he was prosecuted and convicted, his conviction was overturned on appeal because the law prohibited the prosecution from using his testimony to the panel as part of the criminal case against him.

So it's complicated.

I don't know much about his career.

9. He acknowledged this spring that he had acted as a consultant

for Turkey last fall, earning more than half a million dollars. He was working for Turkey at the same time he was advising DT on foreign policy.

As a retired General, he was required to get permission before accepting payments from foreign governments. He was also required to register as a "Foreign Agent." He did neither till AFTER he left his position in the DT administration. Failing to register under the FARA act is a crime.

He also is thought to have communicated improperly with Russians during the transition, in violation of the Logan act. These reports haven't been proven, but the FBI is investigating.

What is certain is that he failed to register as a Foreign Agent. They have him on that at the very least

8. This traitor should NOT get immunity.

At least DT has the excuse of ignorance and stupidity. Flynn is a clear, cold eyed traitor. He knew exactly what he was doing, what he was betraying.

If the military can still get him I hope he's either shot by firing squad or hung by the neck until he is dead. Leavenworth is too good for him.

10. More like Flynn was doing what Trump said to do. Trump runs his own show, not

Flynn running the Trump show.

But this indictment is likely related to not registering as a foreign agent, not an aspect of Trump's campaign or the #TrumpRussia investigations.
