I find it sad that people are salivating over GA-6 election. Followed Omaha's election with baited breath. There is another election about a month away. Archie Parnell is running to replace Mulveney. The National committee hasn't paid him any attention. This is a district that was Democratic until the jerry mandering, it can still be won. Mulveney was the 1st republican elected there in, well, ever.
Parnell, a 66-year-old tax attorney, had been a candidate for South Carolinas 5th Congressional District for just two months. The seat had opened when Mick Mulvaney joined President Trumps administration, and Democrats, bullish on races in Georgia and Montana, had said almost nothing about it. Georgias Jon Ossoff had raised more than $10 million for his June 20 runoff; Parnell, whose election is the very same day, had raised less than one-hundreth as much.

(14,526 posts)The D turnout was low. He needs help. Archie is not a professional politician.

(4,492 posts)This sounds like such a district. Sometimes the national party's involvement hurts more than helps. I do know there's many staff on the ground there (I subscribe to job posting sites for political jobs and there were organizer postings for this district).
(House of Cards fans, I believe this is Frank Underwood's district).

(94,452 posts)This is a much redder district than either GA-6 or MT-AL. In the Primary phase, there were 18,000 Democratic votes and 39,000 Republicans votes.
You observe that Parnell has raised far less money than Osoff has; perhaps that should tell you something.

(94,452 posts)Point 2: The DCCC has finite funds, and expects candidate to show a basic level of organization and fundraising ability.
Simple question: which race should the DCCC NOT support to provide funds for Parnell?
mercuryblues
(14,526 posts)I was a bit flippant when I sais send him a check. His opponent has twice as much money than him. They don't need to send him a million dollars. I would say he has done quite well with what he has. he went from being an unknown and zero dollars to winning a primary and raising funds. While his opposition is a state rep with name recognition and a financial head start.
When the national party calls me for money to help get Democrats elected, what do they do with that money?

This is not approaching a competetive election, and I'm happy the Party isn't burning funds it'll need in more competitive races in the future.
