Rachel Maddow: confirms that Ailes never made sexual advances but Offered Contract Not to Work

“Would he give me deliberately bad advice? Would he tell me no? Would he use it against me?” Maddow wondered. “Would he then start telling people, ‘Maddow came to me for help, she’s a disaster!’” Instead, she said he was “gracious” and “constructive” and “gave me some stuff to think about.” Pressed by Stern, she confirmed that Ailes made no sexual advances towards her.

“There are a lot of people who are mad at me for saying anything nice about him, given the other things we learned about him before he died,” Maddow added, alluding to the sexual harassment issues. “I’m not downplaying those things to also say this is a true thing about the way he interacted with me, and he was a friend.”

Then came the bombshell about Maddow’s conversations with Ailes. Asked by Stern if she would have ever considered working for Fox News had Ailes offered her a job there, despite their obvious political differences, Maddow revealed the generous, yet unconventional offer he made to her recently.

“He once told me that he wanted to hire me at Fox,” she said. “And actually, this was not that long ago, within the last few years. He told me wanted to hire me at Fox and then he told me he’d never put me on the air.”

It's reasonable and honest to give him credit if you personally benefited from his help. Kablooie May 2017 #1

I had a similar situation.

There's a person in my industry that's despised by many of my colleagues. I also don't like his style at all. He requires an almost cult like admiration from his staff.

But he gave me my first big opportunity and I always give him credit for that in spite of my dislike of his work and style.

or he was trying to undercut MSNBC by taking away top talent. But most likely both are the case.

several days before the election, that according to "his sources in the FBI, that an indictment was pending against the Clinton Foundation", and then walked back the report a few 48 hours later after the damage had been done:

" On Friday, Baier went further, saying, "That just wasn't inartful, it was a mistake and for that I'm sorry."

By then, however, the talk of a looming "indictment" had spread across the internet and social media, especially among Hillary Clinton opponents who were predisposed to believe the story.

News outlets like The Hill and RealClearPolitics published stories repeating Baier's original claim, and countless conservative blogs and forums claimed it as fact and celebrated Clinton's possible legal peril. Some sites wrote hopefully about prison time."

and even though Baier said it was a mistake, fox news continued to push the LIE.

However, Rachel was so impressed with Baier's apology. Here is an excerpt from the transcript of her show telling her audience what a good reporter Baier was:

"MADDOW: That`s the reporter and anchor Bret Baier at FOX News Channel
today.

I don`t usually do this on stories like this, but I`m going to take a point
of personal privilege here. I will tell you in my view, in my personal
view, I think that Bret Baier is a good reporter and a good anchor. I also
think he is a good person.

He made a mistake on this story. In this business, that is a very hard
thing for people to admit. But not only did Bret Baier admit that he made
a mistake, he explained the mistake and I think this is important, he
didn`t talk around it. He had the courage and decency to use the word
mistake in saying what had gone wrong and then saying he was sorry.

And that`s really, really hard to do in this business. There`s a reason
you don`t hear a lot of on-air corrections in this business, but that was a
real one, and it was well done and the right thing to do and I think it`s
worthy of respect.

OK. What Bret Baier initially reported and has now retracted and called a
mistake and apologized for was this claim on FOX that there was an active
FBI investigation of Hillary Clinton that was likely to lead to
indictments. That was a FOX News claim from earlier this week. But to be
clear, what Bret Baier did today is he took that back."

Well, isn't that special. She believes "Bret Baier is a good reporter and a good anchor.", and considers Ailes her friend.

So much for judgement
