But the reason Nixon didn't go to prison is that the legal thinking (though not finally decided by the Supreme Court) is that a sitting president can't be prosecuted for a crime - he has to be impeached or resign first. After Nixon did resign, Ford pardoned him so he couldn't be prosecuted. So even if Kushner or Flynn were to roll on Trump he wouldn't be prosecuted as long as he's president (although, like Nixon, he could be named an unindicted co-conspirator). So let's say Trump is then either impeached or resigns; Pence will probably pardon him.

But I do think Trump would throw anybody and everybody under the bus if it was necessary to save his own hide.
