Oh My Word: Out of step: G7 leaders take a stroll-While Trump Follows in a golf cart

The distance between Donald Trump and his G7 partners was spelled out dramatically today when Theresa May and the leaders of Italy, France, Germany, Japan and Canada strolled the streets of Taormina, Sicily — while he followed in a golf cart.

The six are planning to put pressure on Mr Trump over his opposition to free trade and efforts to combat climate change. They walked the 700 yards from the traditional G7 group photo, taken at a Greek amphitheatre, to a piazza in the hilltop town, but Mr Trump stayed behind until he could take a seat in the electric vehicle.

He had been the last to arrive for the photo, keeping the others waiting at the amphitheatre, which commands sweeping views over the Mediterranean.…

May 2017

That may be what is affecting the buffoon in chief. Syphilis tends to lie hidden for years-doing various bad things to one or more organ systems. Neurosyphilis affect the brain and/or spinal cord. Here's a list of possible symptoms:
Symptoms

Abnormal walk (gait)
Blindness
Confusion
Dementia
Depression
Headache
Incontinence
Inability to walk
Irritability
Numbness in the toes, feet, or legs
Poor concentration
Seizures
Stiff neck
Tremors
Visual disturbances
Weakness

I can think of several that he may be experiencing. It should be noted that there may not be any symptoms. Just a thought.

Sat May 27, 2017, 05:14 PM
May 2017

His doctors kept meticulous records and the mercury treatment was a horrible one that would have caused Henry to disappear for at least six weeks, something also not in the records.

It's one of the few things he didn't have. He survived smallpox, had chronic malaria, likely had type 2 diabetes, migraines, a chronic bacterial infection from a jousting injury, massive stasis ulcers on his legs and feet. Because of all this, he had the best in Tudor medical care, something that contributed to both his insanity and misery.

He lived fast and played hard in an age when medical treatment caused more than it cured. He survived all sorts of mishaps including having a horse fall on him. His body was beat up and he had plenty of raging infections that weren't syphilis to keep him in pain. Unable to keep up the young man's schedule of sports, his binge and comfort eating blimped him up to almost 400 pounds.

Sun May 28, 2017, 12:46 AM
May 2017

The argument is that initial successful pregnancy and subsequent miscarriages/stillbirths indicate that he's passing along an infection. But only Anne Boleyn really fits the pattern (and Jane Seymour might have had she survived childbirth) Catherine of Aragon miscarries six months into the marriage, and at least half a dozen times more before the birth of Mary, then again a few more times. Personally I like the argument that RH or Kell sensitization explains the situation.

I can believe that the doctors would have kept mercury off the books, but ambassadors were professional crotch sniffers, and since their letters are full of the king's capability, the menses of Henry's queens, etc I have no doubt that if Henry had syphilis symptoms we'd know all about it from their letters.

which would have allowed a wife a successful first pregnancy followed by miscarriages. Unfortunately for that theory, Mary was from Catherine of Aragon's fourth pregnancy of seven. Also, he had two living children by Mary Boleyn, Anne's older sister. It seems that marrying a woman ensured failure since he had children with a few mistresses, although he acknowledged only one.

And yes, the doctors would certainly have noticed the symptoms of a first infection and the appearance of tertiary syphilis and there wasn't a word written about any of it.

The constant sniffing. The unhealthy eating. Having to wear orange powder to give his face some color. The hair dye.

I can't believe that people fell for Trump's meme that HILLARY was the unhealthy one! That's straight out of Rove's playbook. I saw him talk about this on a tv show. You take your OWN weakness and accuse your opponent of having that weakness before they can point out that YOU have that weakness. Then if they point out that that's YOUR weakness, it just sounds like they're being defensive.

We need younger candidates in the future. Mature, but not THIS old. And definitely not someone who wants to go back to the 1950s!

What's wrong with you? Red Don is completely unfit to hold office. Pick a category, any category. No one gives a shit that he's old -- but his brains are turning to mush, and his dad had Alzheimer's at this point in his own life. He belongs in the care of his family, and nowhere near the Oval Office.

What specifically leads you to allege they are physical limits rather than mere laziness?

Have we seen additional evidence of these limitations? If so, what and when?

There is a clear effort among usually kind and decent people to tap into the ridicule and disdain directed towards people who have mental illness and people experiencing natural bodily decline. "If people think he's one of them, maybe they'll turn on him."

This thread is part of the same effort because the ridicule is of the speculation that he is impaired in a way that limits his ability to walk. Limitated mobility is one of the most universally recognized forms of disability. Did you ever notice whe universal disability icon?

I think the people on this thread are merely pointing out that someone who lives in a glass house shouldn't throw stones. I don't see Trump as someone who has a disability, but as someone who despite having "let himself go" over the past decades relentlessly mocks anyone who does not meet unrealistic ideals of beauty and fitness. He makes up lies about the putative low energy and lack of stamina on the part of those whose work habits he could never hope to equal and who could run rings around him any day of the week. He relishes his KFC and amazing, best-you-ever-saw chocolate cake and chooses not to exercise out of some crackpot notion that it would sap his vital energy. As a consequence of those choices, and in a public setting where he does not get to control the optics, it can be seen that he has allowed himself to become so deconditioned that he has to ride in a golf cart even for the short distance that his counterparts can easily walk. I honestly don't think that anyone would have made an issue out of it if he had not been so hypocritical in his cheap shots at others. I also think that equating this to FDR's post-polio paralysis is completely off base.

131. Are limitations in mobility not associated with or considered to be disability?
Sat May 27, 2017, 06:54 PM
May 2017

He rode in a gold cart rather than walked. So would a lot of people in that situation. Especially people with disabilities that limit their movement or balance. He was attacked over a very ordinary strategy used specifically by people who are aging or mobility impaired. The good for the goose argument fails.
It's an ideology that claims superiority based on bodily function. They tried exactly that with Hillary turning it back around to a different target does not change the fact that it is in the end the very same belief system claiming bodily superiority.

We're not being "ableist" for pointing out HIS hypocrisy and unbelievable cruelty to others. Do you have any clue at all about what he did to his own flesh and blood for not living up to Daddy Trump's eugenic ideas of being an übermensch?

Google Donald Trump's disabled nephew health insurance. It will make your day if it doesn't make you puke.

Donald Trump is a vile excuse for a man who lied about his own (lack of) health and lies about everybody else's if it will serve him in the moment. Did Franklin Delano Roosevelt do that?

You are barking up the wrong tree -- and later on, you change the subject to racism and Ben Carson. Just to get this off my chest, he gets no free passes from me either. As someone else already said, "racist is as racist does." He may have once been a brilliant neurosurgeon, but on all other subjects he is an idiot.

Disgraceful.
He should have prepared by just a bit of exercise. I have an aunt and uncle in late 80s who swim daily and ride horses a couple of times a week. Another aunt in her 90s walked w my daughter and I, from her house a few miles to see Hurst Castle , and then up and down all of those steps.

In the past, incoming presidents went off to to get a physical exam and the basic info was released so the American people knew their leader was healthy, or least taking steps to get there. Not Trump.

Look at him. He's 70 and given that he eats a bad diet loaded with fats, cholesterol, salt, sugar and starch, he must weigh... what? 300lbs, maybe 350lbs, or more? So he's got no choice but to cram his big fat lard ass into either a wheelchair or golf cart.

It's not just about his physical shape, I really think he has a mental problem, have you notice how he never gives a press briefing, he hardly ever speaks, never answers questions, I think he was the leaker on the Manchester bombing info, otherwise Tillerson would not have rushed to the UK to apologize. Also the Netanyu/Trump conference, where he wandered away with a blank look in his eyes and had to led back by aides. I think there is a lot they are not telling us.

I'm 60 years old and disabled. I was out there for almost 2 hours. I had a clipboard, a pile of flyers, my purse and a water bottle. I was fumbling through papers, looking for addresses and reading maps all while juggling my water bottle. I did this for over an hour, then I had to take a break in my car's A/C. I then moved my car and started another block. After that block, I was worn out and moved the car again. At this point, I could tell the heat was not working in my favor. I had to quit before I could finish the roster. But good gosh, Trump can walk 700 yds. If he can get around the WH, he can walk 700 yds.
