I have a question for DU lawyers

Alan Dershowitz was on CNN and he said Jared Kushner has no legal exposure. If the media accounts are true he lied on his SF 86 and that is a violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1001. That seems like probable cause. Whether he knowingly lied seems like a jury question.

There are certain legitimate things people forget. Not trying to set up a com hub in the Kremlin a few months back. The Syria excuse has already been debunked. They weren't even in the oval. Kushner needed money to refi his property he was offering to drop sanctions. It's hilarious how 12 people in the White House surrounding trump have all met wth kysliac but none of them remember. Entirely too convient.

That may be so but covering up the fact might be obstruction of justice and if there was a quid pro quo that involves monetary inducements like favorable funding for Trump and Kushner properties that might be a crime.

Any prosecutor who had that attitude would be fired and or disbarred. A prosecutor has the ethical and legal standard to believe that a defendant is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of a crime. No prosecutor is allowed to "leave it to the jury to decide". No one knows what is on the SF 86 or what legal advice Kushner had in filling it out. Every senior official in this administration and all previous administration receives legal advice in filling out these forms.

What if the media accounts are true and Kushner lied about not one or two but numerous meetings where the items that were discussed were of such gravity that no reasonable person could forget?

Dershowitz suggested that even if you accept the media accounts Kushner has no legal exposure.

Ted Lieu, congressperson and former JAG officer believes Kushner has legal exposure:
