Seriously.
The press and the majority of the American people are obsessed with what is happening to our country. They refuse to live in a land of darkness and untruth. They need transparency like a plant needs light. They cannot thrive without the truth.
Over time, this is going to take a great toll on our people. It affects the mental state of our nation. It should not continue. We need the truth from our leaders. We are not accustomed to autocratic government and our bodies and souls rebel against such tactics.

(40,190 posts)The tension and anxiety that Trump is creating for the country is exhausting. What we are looking at is a completely non-functional government.
It reminds me of a restaurant where you have eaten for years and then there is new management and suddenly the whole place goes to hell. The service suddenly sucks, the food is coming out cold, the atmosphere and vibe changes and the people who work there look like they can't wait to quit.
We went from President Obama, a mature and competent man who understood and respected the way government works. And now we have a man who is corrupt and ignorant, a man who has no respect for or understanding of the Constitution. He is running the place into the ground.

(9,670 posts)The Founding Fathers were brilliant men, but even they couldn't foresee a criminal president that used the privileges of the office to avoid punishment and impede all investigations. They couldn't imagine a two-party system in which one of the parties placed its self-interest over the good of the nation and all that it stands for. They couldn't foresee that such a felon and such a criminal syndicate masquerading as a political party could collude with a hostile foreign government to throw a precious election.
Their oversights may have doomed us. We have now experienced the confluence of the constitutionally unthinkable, and every day brings us more assertions of wrongdoing and more acts of obfuscation and obstruction. Fold in a segment of our media designed to promote propaganda and so-called fake news, an ignorant and uncaring, partisan public, and the recipe for the decline of our once proud nation is nearly complete.
Yes, I'm dismayed. Our only hope is a relentless intelligence community, a strong judiciary, and a general public that prioritizes national security over hollow partisanship. It'll be a close race.
