June 1, 2017
Governor Jay Inslee says Washington state will continue to honor the goals of the Paris climate accord, despite President Trump's decision to withdraw from the international agreement to reduce global carbon emissions.
When asked what he'd like to say to President Trump, Governor Inslee replied:
"Your resignation letter would be gratefully accepted by an optimistic and innovative nation."
Inslee said Washington will continue to fight climate change on multiple fronts, including investing in clean energy technology and upholding a cap on carbon emissions.

(8,696 posts)And a state employee, I like Inslee a lot.
I would like him more as a vocal advocate of Democratic policies and mentor to Democrats aspiring to public office. We need to rebuild our Party from the foundation up and recruiting some of the oldest candidates among us, be it Sanders, Inslee, Biden or Clinton, we need to look them to serve roles of mentors and advocates and pass the baton of office holder to the next generation.

There have been posts here about it. One in the Washington Group has a link to a local news item.

(10,500 posts)that I am already rallying around a nominee.
Maybe Senator Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada? Or one of the Democrats who we will hopefully elect as senator and governor of Nevada next year? Or Representative Ben Ray Lujan of New Mexico? Or his cousin Representative Michelle Lujan Grisham, who will likely be elected governor of New Mexico next year?
I like the idea of picking someone from the interior west, preferably a state in the desert. I want to make a strong play for Arizona, and maybe that would help.

(82,849 posts)President Trump's rhetoric and proposals have all been defeatist, as if the United States no longer has any new ideas. Trump's ideas and goals are coal, oil, steam, and buggy whips.

(1,967 posts)I am about the same age as Trump and I remember the 1950s very well. His ideas about the US place in the world, energy (coal and oil are the future), race (whites are superior in every way), and just about everything else are the conventional wisdom from the 1950s.
The rest of the world moved on. Trump did not.

(367 posts)I like his style and his forthright manner. Eastern Washington can't stand him, and that's part for the course as it's pretty much red. Major amounts of money spent in Eastern Washington to turn it red over the last 2+ decades.
I vote Inslee for consideration, absolutely!

of citizens, important people and officials, and elements of the press are
working against them.
This is part of the resistance. These techniques are working.
