How did Kushner know Russian Embassy HAD A SECURE COMMS CHANNEL hidden from US Intel? Perhaps Flynn, exDirector of DIA, told him our limits?

(19,564 posts)I had a brief (PM) conversation with him about 6 weeks ago and he wasn't optimistic in the least.
He may be correct, in fact I think he is, but he's not overly optimistic as to how this will all flesh out for any of us.
Our very concept of society is at risk.

(19,564 posts)We can still hope, but I'm deeply afraid he's right.
Every single day I'm beginning to believe he's more and more correct on where we are now, and that's deeply depressing to admit.
He's a bright man, and even after you extract what he currently does for a living from the equation, he's been by-and-large factually correct. Which makes his current concern all the more worrisome for those who follow him.

(13,417 posts)People can state over and over again that investigations take time; but if one low level person is not arrested soon, then people will lose trust and faith in the FBI, the justice system and eventually America itself.

(13,417 posts)People are restless and still have some hope. If nothing ever comes from all of these rumors of investigations, then people will lose hope and we're truly fucked.
With all of these rumors and with all of the alleged investigations taking place, why hasn't a single low level person been charged, be it some hacker, somebody with Cambridge Analytica or some campaign staffer? People want to see signs of progress and so far there has been very little of it apart from rumors and an occasional news article about something allegedly going on. Patience will run out if people don't start seeing results soon.

(1,208 posts)It looks like you referred to "rumors" four times, and "allegedly" and "alleged investigations".
On the contrary, the investigations are a fact, attested to in sworn testimony by a lead investigator:
COMEY: ... The current investigation with respect to Russia, we've confirmed it.
The Department of Justice has authorized me to confirm that it exists.
...
HIRONO: So in the investigations that you're currently doing on the Russian interference and the Trump team's relationship, are you coordinating with any U.S. attorney's office in these investigations?
COMEY: Yes, well -- two sets of prosecutors, the Main Justice the National Security Division and the Eastern District of Virginia U.S. Attorney's Office.
...
KLOBUCHAR: Last month during a hearing at the House Intelligence Committee, you confirmed that the FBI is investigating the Russian government's efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election, including any links between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.
... Will you commit to ensuring that the relevant congressional committees receive a full and timely briefing on that investigations findings?
COMEY: In general, I can Senator. I need Department of Justice approval to brief on particular people that we're investigating.
...
GRAHAM: OK. Do you stand by your testimony that there is an active investigation counterintelligence investigation regarding Trump campaign individuals in the Russian government as to whether not to collaborate? You said that in March...
COMEY: To see if there was any coordination between the Russian effort and peoples...
GRAHAM: Is that still going on?
COMEY: Yes.

Nope, not rumors.

(13,417 posts)Again, if arrests, even of low level people don't start soon, the populist push and backing of these investigations will fade and the administration will win.

(19,564 posts)In the real world things don't get resolved from "episode to episode" of a reality TV program.
Investigations take months to years, as any person on either end of the process knows is the reality.
Sometimes the person who harmed you gets away with it due to a lack of evidence, even though you know they committed the crime against you. That's how it works. There's no fairytale endings in our justice system, but if you're lucky the bad guy does get caught, and he pays for his crime.
This is the reality of our system, which has failed me before, but I still fully support. In this case I'm hoping for enough evidence to bury them, but I know it won't happen fast if that's the case. That's not how our judicial system is designed.
This isn't entertainment, this is reality. We're in it for the long haul.

(30,481 posts)"then people will lose trust and faith in the FBI, the justice system and eventually America itself."
I think that would be accurate around these parts but not with the majority of people. I say I overall agree because I fully agree with your understanding trust will be lost if someone is not arrested. I just think the trust lost will be in us, the people making the charges. The narrative will be completely political if no one is arrested. They will claim it was a story promoted by the left wing media and spread by us.
I think some often forget that very few pay as close attention to politics as us. It's just the bigger narratives drawn out over time that gets to the majority of the people.
