Every few days here, a thread will pop up blaming one side or the other that Trump is now President. Hindsight is 20-20 folks. I have my own opinion about why we are here but it doesn't fucking matter. We are in the reality with Trump as President. We don't get to live in the alternate Universe where Hillary or Bernie (or some other Democrat) is President.
What we need to do is focus on movements like The Women's March, The March for Science, Th March For Truth, etc. etc.
We need to defend and empower Truth Tellers like Lawrence O'Donnell, Rachel Maddow, etc.
We need to focus on dismantling gerrymandering and voter disenfranchisement and purging while being the watchdogs and protectors of our election process.
We need to call on our leadership to RESIST!
We need more of us to run for local and state office.
But what we do not need to do is continue tripping over the things behind us. We will never get anywhere if we continue to do that.
If we spent most of our energy on the things we need to do, Trump will be gone in 4 years, maybe even 2 if we can manage to flip both houses of Congress. And most of the damage he is doing can be undone... progress lost or stalled, but not permanently.
Come together people. Apply your energy appropriately. Fight for all of us! And most of all RESIST!

No stupid a$$ man or those repig traitors in Congress (22 of them which were listed on another thread) are not going to stop the will of the American people.

Forget the Bernie Hillary stuff. That doesn't matter.
The Russia stuff...the truth...does.

(3,077 posts)As painful as the loss was, we have to focus on the now and the future. I am going to the Minneapolis Convention Center tomorrow for Resistance Summer. Keith Ellison is going to be there. I am going to work on Amy Klobuchar's reelection campaign. I am going to keep marching, keep resisting and keep fighting. Too much is at stake. I am focusing local and doing what I can.

(53,866 posts)if we can't find ways to prevent the hacking of our elections, it will happen again. if we allow fake news to ruin our candidates it will happen again.
if we allow the FBI to pick winners and losers and to disregard justice department guidelines, it may well happen again.
if we allow people like Jill Stein and Susan Sarandon and TYT to lie and mislead young people without pushing back, it will happen again.'
of course some people do not want a postmortem because they were so very complicit it in. not saying that's your case, but am saying that i am wary of people who do not want to look at what went wrong.
