Christian Conservative: Jesus Wouldnt Want Me To Care About Global Warming

Source: Huffingtonpost.com

What would Jesus do about climate change? According to one self-described Christian, not much.

Conservative pundit Erick Erickson fired off a tweet Wednesday saying his savior called on him to be a good steward for the planet... but that concept doesn’t extend to global warming:

The tweet drew a sharp response from many, including other Christians, and no small amount of bemusement from Erickson, who suggested people read the replies to get “your laugh for the night.”

Drop by Right Wing Watch some day -- ANY day. These chuckleheads are cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. Get the straight jackets, the men in the white coats, and the white wagon! Pack them all up and give each of them their own private rubber room with a securely locked door.

Madness! Madness!

I read a couple of weeks ago where there was a study where religious conservatism was linked to brain damage. Alex Jones and a lot of these people believe in this line of thinking. Maybe brain damage is a common anomaly in all these people?

the millennial will begin and in one miraculous moment, a click of his fingers, the earth will become like the Garden of Eden. No nuclear fallout, no pollution, no trash, no warming, no war, no sickness... it will be perfect. And most of them think the time is near.

That is why they do not care. They believe this. I know. I used to be one of them.

News flash for Erick "Son of Erick" Erickson: Jesus isn't going to appear suddenly, wave his magic God wand, and clean up your mess. That means, sadly, that it's up to you, your lazy ilk, and the rest of us who are pulling your dead weight to do something about it.

Paul ran into this very problem at Thessalonica, which led to his admonishment of the folks there. It's become a favorite verse for folks like Erick, who want to justify their hard-hearted ways, but the reality is that Paul was talking directly to the attitude Erick has here. In that passage, Paul is talking to the crowd who justified their inaction with "Jesus is coming back soon," by telling them that the ones who were able to work but didn't should be excluded from the congregation: "If a man will not work, he shall not eat." (NB: Paul is NOT talking about people who aren't able to work, a confusion favored by Erickson and those of like minds.) 2 Thess 3:8-10.

But those who do not have ears to hear will not listen.

And mark my words, hundreds of MILLIONS of people will die directly due to climate change over the coming decades. Flooding, drought, diseases, wars (look at Syria: civil war initiated by a mega-drought). But clearly, caring about them isn't the Christian thing to do.

Dumbfuck here thinks driving half the planet's species into extinction is "being a good steward"?!?

I was chatting with a new neighbor, they mentioned their dog ran off after a storm. I asked which way it went and I would keep an eye out for it. This is their exact reply....oh, we aren't looking for it. If God wants us to have a dog, he will guide it back to us.

I had 2 immediate thoughts.

I hope they never have kids.

If I find the dog I will also find it another home. One where the owner cares about it's safety.
