We have:
- those who are outraged at the racist statement
- those who never liked Maher in the first place
- those who want to excuse Maher and even suggest we apologize to him

Has anyone noticed that he's just one comedian? He's not an elected official, not a spokesman, not a representative.

Meanwhile, rethugs are electing people to office that are 100 times worse in every category we find objectionable. ffs, evangelicals elected a thrice married adulterer, non-religious thieving asshole - and they love him.

So yes, let's spend our weekend whining and bickering about one comedian.

3. I am not a defender of Maher, nor do I approve the use of racial slurs by anyone,

for several reasons, but your premise that "Maher is hurting our cause" is not a valid argument.

Maher is an independent entertainer. He is not a spokesperson for the Democratic party, or for Democrats in general.

What I find interesting is that a good number of republicans who have pushed a racist and bigoted agenda for decades, have come out offended by Maher's use of the "n" word. The irony never fails to amaze me.

I like Bill Maher. He's one of the smartest, most incisive voices out there when it comes to the fight against fascism.
