Democratic candidate forced to withdraw from race amid death-threats and right-wing terror.

The Democratic candidate running against anti-immigrant Republican Congressman Steve King (IA) announced Saturday that she is dropping out of the race for her own safety.

In a Facebook post published Saturday night, Kim Weaver wrote, “Over the last several weeks, I have been evaluating personal circumstances along with the political climate regarding this campaign. After much deliberation, I have determined that the best decision for me is to withdraw my candidacy for the US House race in Iowa’s 4th Congressional District.”

She explained that beginning during her 2016 campaign, she has been receiving threats of physical violence and murder, and said that “recent events at my home” were forcing her to re-evaluate her decision to run against King.

“While some may say enduring threats are just a part of running for office, my personal safety has increasingly become a concern,” Weaver said.

Threats of violence.
Threats to kill her.
And they even went to her home.

all weaver has done is embolden other wackos to issue threats against other democratic candidates. Cowering in fear is not getting the job done.

3. I think they left out a big part of the story: "internet Pyschic" ..from the Desmoines Register:

Weaver, of Sheldon, added that her decision was driven in large part by negative responses she's received since the Register's publication of a story describing her efforts to build a career as an internet psychic.

You think Steve King is better?

From the OP article:

"Weaver said she's received intimidating phone calls emails and said someone raised a "for sale" sign in her yard — an act she interpreted as a demand that she leave town."

also:

"Beginning during my 2016 campaign, I have received very alarming acts of intimidation, including death threats."

You think people in Iowa have a problem with psychics?

You would think she could have foreseen this.

From the article:

Known as “Kimberanne” — a portmanteau of her first and middle names — and “the Spirit Weaver,” Weaver charged customers as much as $3.99 per minute for readings online and over the phone and dispensed advice on matters ranging from romance to careers to real estate.

In one recording obtained by the Register, Weaver performed a tarot card reading to reassure a distraught woman that her missing husband was not dead.

Don't know anything about IA4, but you would think there was someone out there who would have been a better candidate.

Very few people who pay $4/min for a "psychic" think that it's "entertainment".

* - "You think Steve King is better?"

Are those the only choices? A full year before the primary and we can't get a single candidate who didn't already lose to King by 20+ points?

Unless these threats were a psychic vision, law enforcement should look into it. I just hope it wasn't democrats trying to get her off the ballot.

have help from a psychic when she ran the country while her husband was suffering from Alzheimers? The GOP did not mind that. So, democratic psychics are not as good as republican ones? King is a nutcase, he needs to be stopped.

12. Surely there must be more than one Democrat to run against Steve King.

The man is at the top of the list for nuts and stupid. The only thing dumber is that people vote for him.
